Crazy, you can't even keep your own anit-Griz posts separate. This post was ALL about second chances. That was what BH was speaking to in his compliment of BR, was it not?? It's all your OTHER posts (see the 7 page thread on BH you started) in which you are making the argument about Hauck being Satan. At least keep your own disturbed threads straight.crazycat wrote:This was never about anyone getting a second chance and making the best of it. The Jr. Adams story is pure Hollywood material. He now not only is a terrific player, but has been a model student and citizen. I would certainly expect that Bobby would publically congratulate someone like that. It's called character, cc. Sometimes people need to grow up a little before they find it. Certainly there are some cat players (both current and past) who have been in the same boat. And GOD KNOWS there are some posters on this board who fit that bill.
Brent deserves nothing but praise about the way he's handled himself. For you to try to make something negative out of that takes nothing away from Russum, his hard work, nor his accomplishments.
It does, however, speak volumes about you.
Inane apology/excuse from crazycat in 5.....4.....3......2......1..............
i think we all can agree that recruiting can be a guessing game. Look at what happened at msu - sombody with a clean record got caught selling coke. on the other hand, if the Jr. Adams and ilk can turn themselves around, then god bless them! that is what america is for![]()
i do think that, if Russum does turn his act around, that will be a very good thing. (i was also kinda looking for his name when i made the first post)
This is about a coach who brings in numerous "bad boys" and then certain fans of that team having the coach's back even when things go haywire. Sad commentary on football fans as a whole right there.
Some, not all, UM fans are still backing Hauck and praising him despite the poor decisions he's made. Again, a sad commentary on football fans. A small percentage of fans can make the whole bunch look bad.
This thing has gone full circle now. It's gotten like an argument between a husband and wife. Someone has to just say F.I. I'll step up and do that. Anyone that wants to take their cheap shots at me has my blessing. I'm sure everyone knows what's what, we've gone over it ad nauseum. If you can't come to a conclusion by now, you'll need to start your own thread.

I guess I can't keep my promise of staying of this thread yet:GrizinWashington wrote: Crazy, you can't even keep your own anit-Griz posts separate. This post was ALL about second chances. I didn't start this thread to talk about what a great guy Hauck is for giving people second chances. I started it because he mentioned Brent Russum in the same sentence as Craig Ochs as a couple transfers he's brought in that have done well. Maybe Russum has done well since he's been in Missoula, good for him. But of all people for Hauck to mention, I'd think he'd just stay away from Russum. He covered a wide spectrum when he said Ochs and Russum.
It was quite a compliment for Hauck to include Russum in the same sentence Ochs. Ochs was looking for a new start where he'd get to play and there was never any reason to think he didn't deserve one. Russum was obviously looking for second chance.
I've never said Hauck was Satan. I'm simply saying he's brought in players that he knew were bad boys. Then after you, ECG and TG come over here and try to say I'm picking on him and start defending his actions, I respond to that.
Bottom line: Hauck has brought in several players who he knew were bad boys. I can maybe see bringing one, but this is ridiculous. If he had it to do over again, do you think he would? And how would a coach explain a guy like Russum to his wife and kids.
"Honey/Daddy is it true that you've signed a player that got his girlfriend drunk and he and his friend videoed and photoed her having sex with him?"
"Yes, dear, it is true. Now go fix me some bacon and eggs."
I mean this guy was supposed to this girl's boyfriend. Obviously he was just taking her for ride, but she thought he was her boyfriend and he humiliates her in this way. I'll give Russum the benifit of the doubt and say he obviously didn't really consider her his girlfriend, because who does this to someone you actually care about.
As far as I'm concerned guys like Russum have a long ways to go before anyone starts praising them in the media. I'm sure if this girl were to see this article, it would probably make her sick.

You keep talkin' but haven't backed up one word of this. Your only attempt failed because you tried to tie two things together that aren't relevant to each other. The more you try, the more you're losing credibility.
Giving a 15-year old boy a scholarship after he is either falsely accused or accused of something that the legal system doesn't consider a crime, which doesn't have any documentation to accomany it on this board, is not the same as this whole deal with Russum, which has been documented.
You can choose to not believe that Russum did any of these things. This case, like the one of the 15-year old boy, was dismissed. I happen to believe both stories are true, but in the boys case I think it was simply spontaneous high school hi-jinx, while in Russum's case it was well thoughtout and highly deceitful. That's not saying I think what the high school boy did was OK or that Russum should be imprisoned. I can't group every misdeed together and be that black and white about it and I don't think anyone should.Arizona State Football Players Kicked Off Team Had Videotaped Drunken Girlfriend as She Made Out With One of Them, Took Naked Pictures of Her After She Passed Out - Details about the specific acts that got two Sun Devil football players ( Brent Russum, 19, and his roommate, Jonathan Lehmann, 19) kicked off the team last week have been released. Originally, all we knew was that they had videotaped a naked woman without her permission. Now comes word that the "woman" was actually Russum's girlfriend who showed up to their dorm room "very intoxicated" one night. While making out with Russum, Lehmann allegedly whipped out his camera and videotaped them from his bed. Wait, it gets better! She claims that after her boyfriend had removed some of her clothes she noticed a red light near Lehmann's bed and realized she was being taped. She claims to have told them to "put the camera away" and erase the tape but then passed out. And what did the boys allegedly do while she was out? According to her, they allegedly photographed her naked. The next day she went back to complain and despite the fact the images had been erased, she called the cops who served a search warrant on the men's room and arrested them March 29. Officers had a field day, seizing cameras, tapes, memory cards and a photo album which included photos of other people, some of whom were nude and others engaged in sexual activity. That's not good. Russum and Lehmann have now been charged with surreptitious photographing, videotaping, filming or digitally recording, a Class 5 felony.

Oh....well you think one was a pre-meditated act of deviancy and the other was just boys being boys. Well why didn't ya say so crazy? Of course, you have nothing to back up this little hypothesis but who needs it right?crazycat wrote:You can choose to not believe that Russum did any of these things. It's become obvious that your merely trying to antagonize with your hypocrite line, which has been exposed as a failed attempt at discrediting me. To think that the dogpile fingering was pre-meditated is a stretch. What are we supposed to think? A 15 year old waits in the bushes for the next dog pile, so he can jump in and try to cram his hand up someone's ass?
To think that the video taping wasn't is, again, a stretch. The guy had enough video equipment and photos to make John Holmes blush.

I suppose your explanation/apology for people that commit forcible anal sodomy might be possible. I just wish you had something to back it other than your own picture-fitting window dressing.
I mean, the kid put his digits in enough butts to make a proctologist blush.

Well I see we're making progress today Mr. TampaGriz. That's good. The truth serum is taking effect. You've gone from mulitiple digits to just one, that's a good sign. Now we need to work on getting those butts down just one butt. After that we'll work on this person's age and then whether or not the courts saw this as a crime. But we don't want to move too quickly.tampa_griz wrote:I guess now you're a lying hypocrite that doesn't know how to read?crazycat wrote:You're lying. Again. That's right. And this kid was also punished despite the case being thrown out. I never said that Russum shouldn't have been brought in, I'm just saying (over and over now) that Hauck brought in players with prior legal problems. It's still that simple.tampa_griz wrote:And Russum's case was thrown out as well so all is fine. I don't know that Russum's case was settled or if it was thrown out. There's a difference. If it was thrown out, I don't know on what grounds. According to mslacat the kid's case was thrown out because it was "hazing gone bad." Whatever that means, but then he was still sent to boot camp. So sounds like he was sentenced, yet not convicted of anything. I have no idea how that works and am leaving room for mslacat's report having some details left out. That's not a slam on mslacat, just seems likely.

What you said that was that Hauck shouldn't be giving praise to Rassumm for being a transfer that worked out. Now it appears your saying it was a good idea to bring him in but if he performs well and stays out of trouble to not talk about him.crazycat wrote:That's right. WHAT?crazycat wrote:I don't know that Russum's case was settled or if it was thrown out. There's a difference. If it was thrown out, I don't know on what grounds. According to mslacat the kid's case was thrown out because it was "hazing gone bad." Whatever that means, but then he was still sent to boot camp. So sounds like he was sentenced, yet not convicted of anything.

I definitely don't think Hauck should be praising Russum. I think being a model citizen is the very least Russum can do. Mentioning him along with Ochs was IMO a bad choice. Let Russum get into his senior year and then, if all has gone well, throw his name out there as someone you think has come in, handled a lot of adversity, excelled and point out the things he's done around campus and the community.tampa_griz wrote:What you said that was that Hauck shouldn't be giving praise to Rassumm for being a transfer that worked out. Now it appears your saying it was a good idea to bring him in but if he performs well and stays out of trouble to not talk about him.crazycat wrote:That's right. WHAT? What? Yeah, that's what it sounds like. Bizarre I know and I don't understand how that could be, hence all the disclaimers about mslacat's report on the matter. I'll say it again: "It appears some details are missing." It sure sounds weird that judge would send someone to a boot camp and make he perform community service, while at the same time saying it was merely 'a hazing gone bad.' Had he been convicted of something, what would the penalty have been? Strange.
