Do you not know the real story of the MSU "championships"? Maybe I should let a Cat fan break the bad news...MSU Toddler wrote:what national championship and head to head meetings don't count? what else doesn't count?

what counts and what doesn't? i'm just curious since you seem to be making the rules as we go on who has the better team?
is it 20 years? why not 25? why not the last 4 or even 1?
cause your bball team had a good year - the griz are suddenly the most dominant all sports team around?
be consistent please

I don't think there's any doubt that the Griz have dominated BSC sports in general, and particularly football. Consider what is without doubt the most important - playoffs.
As for what "championships" don't count, it appears the task is left to me.
Somewhere around 50 years ago, you won your first supposed "national championship", which was actually some obscure bowl, with an even more obscure tie-breaker point system. The game ended in a 0:0 tie!
A few years later, you won a NAIA title.
Finally, about 20 years ago, you won a legitimate I-AA title... well done. That's... ONE!

It's not that the NAIA doesn't count... we all admire Carroll. But let's maintain at least a little "apples to apples" integrity.MSU Toddler wrote:naia doesn't count? would it count if the griz won?
I hope we can at least dispense with the 0:0 bowl tie as being an "NC"!

just asking questions to see what counts (like dealing with facts here).
i was wondering about Carroll and if they moved up - would their championships not count anymore? what if the griz moved up to 1-A, are they no longer 2x NC champs? what about marshall?

First, it's risky to ask a Griz fan about what counts as far as Cats NC's go.MSU Toddler wrote:just asking questions to see what counts (like dealing with facts here).

Second, sure the NAIA NC's would count for Carroll. But if Carroll tried to say to anyone in I-AA "Ha! We won 3 NC's", it would be a very misleading statement.
Third, the same rule would go for us, WHEN we go I-A (we're probably all going next year anyway!). We'd have to specify what NC we're talking about, or the other I-A teams would laugh their asses off at us.

this is all great actually because when the griz dont win, and dont represent the sky in the tourney, then they are the same as the cats. lets be consistent here. you either care more about making the playoffs/dance, or ya dont. if the cats are way worse than the griz in football because we failed to make the playoffs, then that cats and griz are equal in basketball if the griz fail to make it to the dance. is that fair? afterall, post-season apperances mean everything. which is great for me because i hated that we lost to the griz twice this year, and luckily....it means nothing.

Yup, I think reaching the playoffs is the most important thing about a season. But, each to his own (some, particularly you guys recently, think a season is made or lost on how you play the Griz).whitetrashgriz wrote:cats and griz are equal in basketball if the griz fail to make it to the dance. is that fair?
This year, there were so many terrible efforts made by both the Griz Men and Ladies teams, it can't go down as a stellar year, no matter the outcome of the playoffs.
One thing is clear, though... the Griz obviously outplayed the Cats.

If your going to act like you know what you talking about...KNOW WHAT THE F--- YOUR TALKING ABOUT. First off, the NAIA tilte you talk about was actually a NCAA Division II title. Secondly if we weren't awarded/declared/crowned the National Champions in the 50's we wouldn't count it but we were...get over it. We also won the Chamelion (sp) Bowl in the 60's which many considered the small college championship, but we weren't awarded or declared National Champions so we don't mention it. Yes you've been more successful in the last 20 years but since 2002 we have. yep, just like we obviously outplayed you last year. the difference being that not a single fan decided to go to egriz and talk about how great we were, and how bad you were. just the difference in class i guess. see you in flagstaff! ooops, i forgot.MaZooLaGriz wrote:Yup, I think reaching the playoffs is the most important thing about a season. Since 2002 you've played in and LOST 2 playoff games!
Same Time frame the Griz are 4 of 8 in playoff games!
Who in their right mind (other than a kitten) would say the kittys are a better team?[/quote]
hmmm i dont know but 3 out of 4 head to head matchups is not that bad in my line of thinking....
i will let you get back to your middle school classes now
