First, the gift was only a million dollars (certainly there are MSU grads that could cough that up). Second, it was 22 years ago. Third, at that time WaGriz was built to seat 12,000. The additional 21,500 seats have all been added later because of demand, and because it could be paid for directly from ticket revenue. There may have been a kick-start from Denny, but that great house was built by rabid Griz fans. And the opportunity for you to do the same is there. Step up or shut up. Those are the options. What's it gonna be?
You know damn well that if it wasn't for that kick start from DW then the program wouldn't be where it is just yet. That kick start was a very impressive catalyst for what was to come. Without it, you'd be where most of the other I-AA programs are.

The only reason griz fans like you shed tears over such a statement is because it's true. As a Cat fan, I truly admire what he did for the school and how it really kick started the tradition that many of you spoiled, arrogant fans CONSTANTLY throw back in Cat fans' faces.

Of course, with the success that ensued after his donation, the success came and all of those griz fans suddenly became "rabid" griz fans. With that "rabid" nature (READ: that means a team that consistently won), many of you were willing to shell out the money for what has turned into an impressively growing operation and, now, tradition.

In case you haven't noticed, the growth at MSU wasn't bolused with an initial 1 million dollar investment and even if it was, it wouldn't do a whole lot today when you consider how small 1 million dollars is when it comes to building something of the magnitude of what the griz did 22 years ago.

As for your comment, "put up or shut up", that's ridiculous. Are you 18 years old? MSU donors are doing it slowly but surely. There have been some major changes over the past years that most I-AA fans/schools would be envious of. Basically, what you and griz fans who think like you fail to understand is that you guys would be no different than where we're at right now if it wasn't for that initial investment from DW. Both schools represent a huge amount of Montanans who come from humble backgrounds and thus have an alumni base that is pretty much the same. Last time I checked DW wasn't of that background (A Montanan, that is, though I understand he came from humble roots) nor is he an alum of the um. I wouldn't expect you to have the slightest bit of agreement of what I just wrote, but it's true. You guys and the school you support are extremely lucky and, more impressively, the football program especially has taken advantage of that. To me, that aspect is very admirable.
I will admit that we throw our success in your face but is it not deserved? You are NOT as good as us and will probably wont be for quite some time. If we are going by 16-6 then Weber has a better program than you! Would you dare to say that? Facts are facts, the Griz are better than the Cats in football overall whether Denny Washington paid for it all of it or we got lucky or whatever you want to call it. Please Accept the fact that we are better and move on

Thanks for posting Swilly, I was wondering if I was going to get a chance to kill some brain cells today.

Get back to us when you learn how to write a sentence using the wonderful English language. Until then, enjoy your retirement from the Smack Board.

My 2 sense : The Griz will probably won't be beating the Cats 4 a long tyme.

By my math that makes wa/griz 33,500 seats.

I wasn't aware of that- damn impressive.
Denny sure didn't put that money in the math department.

Swilly, quick question. Which team beat the other up and down the field last November? I think that would be more telling about which team is better. Just a thought.

As I was typing that, part of me was thinking, "this ain't right", but I kept on typing away. Perhaps I was taking into consideration the season ticket wait list??

Ill take my stadium and my 5 outta 11 championship appearances over 16-6!

To all Cat fan:Would you rather make the playoffs 13 straight years and have one of the top 25 game day atmospheres in all of college football and be in the national championship 5 out of 11 years and have 2 national titles or not make the playoffs and beat the Griz 3 out of the last 4 year and just be 5 years removed from a 0-11 season?

How about basketball? Why dont we see who has the better program there in mens and womens...

Who won a NCAA tournament game this year?

Who has won two straight Big Sky conference titles?

Who has only had make the NCAA's one outta the last 16 years with one coach?

Who's women team won only but three games this year?

Don't 'ya just love it! The Sc@s always end up looping back to to excuses and sour grapes. They'll ALWAYS spend their energy on that, and NEVER achieve close to the mighty Wa-Griz.

One game wonders.

They had a good season and I was proud of them. But when it was all over I got to thinking about things and I came to the conclusion that I really have nothing to do for about 4 months now. Ive decied to retire from the Smack Board on BN.

Before everybody starts crying, just remember that I had fun on this board for the most part. It was always a uphill battle since everybody decied to attack my age and I really had no control or comeback for that. Anyways, I wish you all the best and to continue to smack each other and have fun doing so....

I know I wont be missed and that makes me proud. I will probably still read this smack board but will not reply anymore, although I might reply on some of the other stuff on BN.

Its been fun

I see the twin eunuchs are both back. What's the matter, not enough attention at home so you live vicariously through your bandwagon fanmanship to a team known as the jizz?

Here's a key point you are missing Slingblade. Being only 5 or so years removed from a 0-11 season and now suddenly beating the almighty jizz three out of the last 4 years in football and pretty much dominating the jizz in basketball with the exception of this most recent season and the end of last season.

Eunuchs!

If you have ever been in wa/griz it is because your mommy paid your way. That'll probably come to an abrupt halt when she can't buy you a childs' admission though.

I laugh because all you Cat fans are retarded. I was watching the Texas St. and GSU game this year and they were talking about the playoffs and how we lost to Cal Poly and the announcer said "Now often do the Grizzlies lose in the playoffs and definintly not in missoula" and I thought it was funny because the man was 100% right. Until the Cats get a reputation like that or at least make the playoffs in consecutive years then maybe you will be up to par with us.

PS: When you people cut at my age or whatever you seem to like to do, it doesnt help the fact that your basketball program is in the ****** and your one shot at glory in football is gone and mediocrity waits beyond the horizon. I will take in all your comments about me and laugh my way to Chatty next year and the Sweet 16 and proceed to say "Its a good day to be a Grizzly"

Even though you're just a punk kid, sometimes you show all the attributes of being a dUMb English major.
