It's been a long time comming for the Griz faithful to finally get something nice. I mean, they haven't upgraded the stadium since '03. I don't know how Griz nation survived four long years!
notice this is in the smack section....

The word is that they will have all 3,000 additional seats sold before the addition is completed. Which begs the question: Why didn't they go with the full expansion they originally were considering? I would think it's okay to a few empty seats once in awhile if it means having 30,000 when you need 'em.

true, but for now I am just in awe of this (if this is in fact how it ends up). There is no doubt who the most spoiled fans in I-AA are. Dennis Washington should have a statue on our campus...

He likely will, but he'll have to pay for it himself.

hahaha, I noticed the quote change. I can respect the Bobcat response on this one.
A) All would admit it is an awesome addition
B) None will comment on it because there is no response that won't garnish razzing
C) Instead, they secretly hope the San Andreas Fault takes a wicked detour through Missoula and levels Washington Grizzly Stadium
I understand not loving this thing, and when the Bobcats have their next coup, I will take my medicine.

It's disappointing that while the Griz elect to involve 3,000 more fans to the Saturday event, the Cats spend their money and effort on boxes. Disappointing because it puts off even longer the possibility of a third Montana football dynasty and experience.

One box will bring in approximately $50k in revenue per year. That will add up quickly, which will more readily allow the expansion of which you speak.

Get over yourselves guys. You have a great stadium that holds more people than ours... and it will soon hold even more. Congrats. As I stated in an earlier thread, you have a fun game-day experience over there, but it's kind of XFL-ish with all the hype. We all have a blast at the Bobcat games in our stadium as well. Once you get past the Skydivers, the mascots, the fly-overs, the Harley's, the PA system, the jumbotron and kissing cam, the fog machines, the sky-writing and banners, and whatever else I'm missing... it still comes down to the real reason the true fans are there, the game.

I think the fact Bozeman has one of the best facilities in FCS is part of the bitterness. Any other state, with any other rival and I think the Cat's would be the one's catching flack for being spoiled. It just so happens you live within a 250 mile proximity of the FCS mecca.
I would say UM football games are XFL'sh to a point. Yeah, all the little side deals are similar, but in the end the Grizzlies play good football (something the XFL lacked). Besides, when you are playing opponents that are six leagues below you, you need a little something extra to keep fans interested. I was hoping next year the Griz could schedule Drummond for a non-conference game.

good posting Topher. I think the only thing missing from that architect's sketch is the big circus tent.

I'm not a fan of a lot of the extracurricular activities that take place at any sporting event these days. They're all distractions. However, much of what UM does IS effective at getting (and keeping) the crowd involved, which is a good thing.
And after all, if I'm a cat fan, I don't talk too loudly about "circus atmoshpere". Isn't there a UTube video of a cat game showing half naked (unfortunately) male students doing some ridiculous and unrecognizable looking activity ON THE FIELD during the game?? I mean, c'mon. The only one on the field after the opening KO at Montana is Monte.
And have you been to a PSU game?? That's like going to a Double A baseball game. They've got some logger dude with a chainsaw for some vague reason, and every timeout is filled with some assinine contest/distraction.

I heard we were gonna schedule Chadron State but rumor (or is it a rumor ) has it they're used to beating up on BSC teams.
On a serious note, I'm fortunate enough to know some people in Bozeman that have a tailgate spot. I've had plenty of fun at MSU games. It is what you make of it I guess.
I'm not a "rah-rah" guy so I can do w/o the fog/harley's/etc, but my kids like the sh!t out of it.

Thanks BillingsGriz ... if you ever need a ticket to a Bozeman game let me know as I usually have an extra ticket or two depending on the game I can give you. I have some Griz fans I work with that like coming up with me to Bozeman games etc. Not saying they root for them, but they have a blast up at the games in Bozeman. If you like a beautiful setting, great foot and best of all FOOTBALL you can't go wrong!

Not me. I'd rather just watch good football with die-hard Bobcat fans rather than bandwagonners. That was a fun game to watch. A bit scary... but fun!
And if you think our crown noise and excitement is lame based on thad video... make sure you head over to out stadium on November 17th...

Geez, are we still getting that "bandwagon" smack?? Can't you come up with anything new (or at least accurate)?

I know a couple who go to the games to simply watch the marching band at half....then they leave....crazy...not sh!t....
I guess the thing that UM does well, is they figure out a way to entertain even non-football fans.
