Powerhouse

Post by poorgriz » Mon Sep 24, 2007 11:43 pm

I keep hearing all these griz fans talking about how much of a powerhouse in the Big Sky they are. I have two questions I would like to ask them.

1. Do you think you would be a powerhouse if Boise State and Idaho were still in the Big Sky?

2. If you are such an amazing team/program, than why are you still playing in the Big Sky and at the D-1AA level. Why not follow in the footsteps of Boise State, or are those shoes just to big to fill?

If you can't win 'em all, at least beat the Griz! And always leave positive comments......

The answer is simple: money talks, bull**** walks. And UM definitely likes the money.

3. Why is this in Bobcat Athletics?

They are and have been pretty good. I doubt they'll beat us in Cat/griz though. It will be a low scoring defensive battle. My kind of game.

What I can't figure out is why this year IMHO, there seems to be a feeling in grizzlyville that they are, such and incredible team this year. I don't get it.

The only player of the griz I worry about is Lex. Berquist is better this year, but not a major threat. In general griz D is strongest part of that team, not the O.

At least they took the chance and moved up when they claimed that they were such a great team in the Big Sky. You boys won't even take the chance to play a D-1A program, win or lose, it still showing that you have the balls to step up and compete with the "BIG BOYS".

Low scoring like last year, except that the Cats end up winning.

BTW Nick, you're reaching a bit if that's what you get from my post. Take the smack to the smack board

Oh boo hoo. I only said that because that's the GRIZ kind of game as of late. I don't see how that works in the Cats' advantage.

Last year was basically a one big play game and it came out in UM's favor. I don't think that's a real 'advantage'. I'd expect the same this year, a big play, maybe two will decide it.

Does Idaho count as one of the 'Big Boys'?

We barely keep our head above water in the BSC we would be worse than Idaho if we moved up. Boise will come back to the pack here in a year or two and then everyone can quit using that stupid arguement.

BSU will soon be screaming "WE ARE MARSHALL" and sucking on the football field the same way.

Idaho ended the series. They are 1-4 vs the Griz since the series was renewed in `99 but the two haven't met since UM spanked Idaho 41-28 in a game that wasn't even that close in Missoula in 03.

Ok lets look since 1999 shall we...

1999 - Idaho Loss 33 to 30 (7-4)
2000 - Idaho Win 45-38 (5-6)
2001 – Hawaii Loss 30-12 (9-3), Idaho Win 33-27 (1-10)
2002 - Idaho Win 38-31 (2-10)
2003 - Idaho Win 41-28 (3-9)
2005 - Oregon Loss 47-14 (10-2)
2004 - ????
2006 - Iowa 41-7 (6-7)
2007 - ????
2008 We cant really count Hawaii can we?

Calling Idaho one of the Big Boys is a bit of a stetch dont you think...

"the two haven't met since UM spanked Idaho 41-28 in a game that wasn't even that close in Missoula in 03."

And spanking a 3 and 9 team by 13 points at home? Wow that was quite the beatdown...

I would think Idaho would like to resume the series. The Jizz appeared to be one of the only teams they could compete with.

Yeah Idaho was 3-9 against I-A opponents. Opponents like Washington State, Boise State, and Washington. When you look at their conference opponents, all of them had a tougher time with the Vandals than Montana did.

Like it or not they ahve more scholarships than UM. In that same time span I think the Cats lost to UI something like 56-7:shock: . Poor record or not that's not a "cupcake" opponent. Show me where I called Idaho one of the big boys, and yes that game was a beatdown. The Griz were up 31-9 before putting the reserves in.

You guys are funny. You say UM never plays I-A teams. Then when I show you they do, you pick and choose which ones count.

We know they are I-A and they play those teams but they got beat by those teams, they were 3-9 in 2003. The games they won? New Mexico St., Louisiana-Monroe & Utah St.

And who did they beat in 2002 when they were 2-10? San Diego St & Middle Tennessee St.
