Lets Face It

We have the finest University in the conference! We are equivalent to Norhtwestern of the Big Ten. High academic standards (highest in the conference) Numerous areas of study(the most challenging in the conference) We don't have degrees in diesel mechanics or welding like Eastern Washington and Weber State. With that comes the challenge of recruiting the perfect student athlete. There are drastic differences between Montana State and the University of Montana and it can be explained in the t.v. ads for both schools. Mountains and Minds:development, research and the future. vs a university that offers football for entertainment. The Griz success on the football field will come to an end soon, followed by extreme disappointment. As competitive as I am and as big of sports fan as I am (Cats included) I've had to learn priorities and put life in perspective. I would much rather be a fan and supporter of a University that is focusing on development. research and the future. Ask the seniors who played their last game on Saturday where their focus is now, graduation, the future and being a positive influence on society. Ladies and gentlemen we have the finest University in the conference!

This is the first step in accepting mediocrity. Just scrap that football program and save yourself the heartache.

Define mediocrity: Losing on the football field, or being a 30-something year-old ex-grizzly jock slinging drinks at the local dive bar, still stuck in Missoula trying to relive your glory years by throwing drunk 20-year-olds through pie cases at Perkins. You tell me.

I would say that the drunk 20something-year-old MSU grad that got drunk after his shift at McDonalds and then proceeded to run his pie hole and got thrown through the pie case is below mediocre.

You shouldn't talk about yourself in the 3rd person.

This whole thread is based on very subjective arguments from either side so I will not be joining. I do need to point out that there are several UM commercials that have absolutely nothing to do with football. It has been pointed out on this board several times. They features professors and they are award winning. Make your argument all you want, but please use valid information.

An all around ridiculous argument is all this subject is. HOwever, validity isn't warranted just because a few professors won a few awards.

you must be miserable.... i mean really. your take pleasure in attempting to run down the reputation of a university because of a football game (no guts to smack before a game - only afterward)? i can't remember what they say about someone who only is happy when they TRY to bring others down - but it isn't a good thing.

i feel sorry for you.
