Griz in 08 Update
I apologize, I forgot about the extra game next season. Griz are looking at a minimum of 3 or 4 losses, more likely 5. Still miss the playoffs.
Other predictions:
1) Hauck takes the Duke job, they go 12-0 for the first time in school history.
2) Sometime in July, the Griz defense discovers a scheme they believe will at least slow down the Wofford Terriers option attack.
3) In anticipation of the Griz having no running game, the NCAA grants Lex Hilliard another year of eligibility.
4) National Hockey League considers moving a franchise to Missoula. NHL officials say they like Washington/Griz stadium, it reminds them of most of the arenas in the NHL, it just needs a roof.
5) Western Athletic Conference (WAC) says they are not interested in the University of Montana joining the league. The main reason was, WAC teams must play road games.

Can't we just add this to the current 198 threads concerning the Griz on this board, including the 5 or 6 about their schedule/predictions?
But either way, let's see how strongly you believe this. Are you willing to put your wallet where your piehole is? I've got $500 bucks that says you're wrong on all counts. PM me. We'll let BAC hold the cash.
What say ye??

And Bozeman High decides they'll play their home games at Bobcat Stadium because they want to play in a nice, big...ah, nevermind, it reminds them of playing at any AA venue.autocat wrote: 4) National Hockey League considers moving a franchise to Missoula. Quite possibly the most pathetic attempt at smack I've seen in awhile.Billings_Griz wrote:And Bozeman High decides they'll play their home games at Bobcat Stadium because they want to play in a nice, big...ah, nevermind, it reminds them of playing at any AA venue.autocat wrote: 4) National Hockey League considers moving a franchise to Missoula. At least going into Bozeman High School isn't like walking into a correctional facility (i.e. Hellgate).

Billings hasn't been able to adequately support a JUNIOR hockey team since the mid 90's. I don't know what makes anybody think Missoula could support an NHL team.autocat wrote:I'm just going with what the NHL commissioner Gary Bettman said when he was on vacation in Missoula in August. Do some internet research!
Gary Bettman can say all he wants. Missoula can't support an NHL team. You heard it here first.

You say the same thing every year. It's funny that Cat fans were also guaranteeing that we would lose to PSU, NAU, and MSU too. Keep trying. Never works.autocat wrote:I apologize, I forgot about the extra game next season. Griz are looking at a minimum of 3 or 4 losses, more likely 5. Still miss the playoffs.

I thought this would be a more serious thread, but I guess this is the smack board. I'll post some non-smack anyway.Nick wrote:You say the same thing every year. Right now, I said 'right now' as in who they have on their team right now and assuming they don't bring in any ringers, the Griz would finish somewhere around third. With nine starters gone off the defense along with several key reserves it's tough to put UM ahead of MSU or EWU right now. There are probably some other teams that may stack up well against UM, too, but I don't know just what everyone else has coming back. WSU was looking good last year.
UM will probably bring in a few ringers from FBS leagues, so it's tough to say at this point.

We hear this every year, history proves other wise. GRIZ will once again be on the top of the pile.crazycat wrote:34

The GRIZ, a quarter century of total football dominance over the cats.

With the team they have right now? Or are you banking on them bring in some ringers?Eastcoastgriz wrote:We hear this every year, history proves other wise. GRIZ will once again be on the top of the pile.crazycat wrote:34

Seldom does a new player have much impact their first year.crazycat wrote:With the team they have right now? Or are you banking on them bring in some ringers?Eastcoastgriz wrote:We hear this every year, history proves other wise. GRIZ will once again be on the top of the pile.crazycat wrote:34

Re: Griz in 08 Update
I think you will definitely be in the mix to win the title heading into the Brawl. I also think that EWU will be picked by the coaches and media to win the league, despite losing Wulff. Regarding your history... I don't think you can compare 2008 to the other recent teams because this will be an anomoly. You are losing way more talent than you ever have, at least in the recent past.Eastcoastgriz wrote:We hear this every year, history proves other wise. They lose nine starters and three quality backups in Hawthorne, Foreman and Cooper. All three LBs are gone and that's where Hawthorne and Foreman played.catatac wrote:I think you will definitely be in the mix to win the title heading into the Brawl. Their O Line returns everyone except Balogh, but their skill positions are average. Lex, Bagley and Allen are all done. Plus their kicker and punter are both done.
I expect them to bring in a lot of transfers at LB, DB, receiver and running back. Maybe kicker and punter, too. I wouldn't be surprised to see 10 transfers, because they have so many scholarships freed up. I imagine some of those will go to current walk-ons and partials. We'll see, but I just don't see them doing much with what they have right now.

Re: Griz in 08 Update
Actually, the only position on offense I am worried about is RB. Yes, we lose Bagley and Allen at WR, but we have Ferriter, Mariani, and Schulte coming back -- Ferriter and Schulte have already had significant playing time, and Mariani has the speed and athleticism to be awesome after having another year to learn the offense. At RB, Brooks-Fletcher has speed, but he's not really a power runner, nor is he a great blocker. He either needs to improve, or we need to go get someone (actually, we probably need to get someone regardless -- even if TBF becomes a complete stud next year, we'll need someone to take some of the load).crazycat wrote:Their O Line returns everyone except Balogh, but their skill positions are average. In short -- I am a Griz fan with acknowledged maroon-colored glasses, but I'm not that worried about our offense next year. If we can get some more playmakers, it'll be gravy, but with Cole, an improved o-line, and some solid receivers, I think we'll be ok.
Defense is a complete wildcard -- I wouldn't even care to speculate as to who will be starting. We'll see...

So you admit that the Griz D will still not have an answer for Wofford's option attack by July? Interesting. I agree.GrizinWashington wrote:Can't we just add this to the current 198 threads concerning the Griz on this board, including the 5 or 6 about their schedule/predictions?
