A few of my personal favorites.
1898 - Griz 16 cats 0
1899 - Griz 6 cats 0 and Griz 38 cats 0
Not only did we beat you guys back then, we never even let you score.

Umm it was 18-6 in 1898, 6-0 and 16-0 in 1898. But what I'm most curious is why you stopped there, how where those next 7 years?

I think you know why I stopped there.
Also according to this link the score in 1898 was 16-0 Griz.

I am very certain that the link where your score has the cats winning is a division of MN and the author is biased.

Are you drunk posting in the middle of the day again? That's what I just said it was 16-0 Griz in the second game of 1898(you said 38-0 which was the 1899 score in favor of us). The first game was in 1897 and "Montana's first football team, in 1897, won just one of its six games, but that was over the Bobcats." Even then all you guys cared about was winning the rivalry game!

Oh yeah, and your missoulian link doesn't seem too trustworthy either:
Montana 6,
Montana State 0
Game No. 4 – 1899, in Missoula.
The streak is over and a new one begins.
The College team from Bozeman beats Missoula for the first time in the Brawl of the Wild.
Montana 38,
Montana State 0
Game No. 5 – 1899, in Bozeman.
"After two successive years of defeat, Bozeman has at last come to the front by scoring two victories over the state university, the Thanksgiving game being a football turkey stuffed with 38 to zero sauce,"
I'll take my site for accuracy over yours thanks.

WOW! That was a pretty impressive streak for the CATS... beat them 6 years in a row and the combined scores were 137 to 17. 4 Shutouts for the good guys...

Traditions start early.

Football
1956: Montana State University, NAIA National Champions
1976: Montana State University, NCAA DII National Champions
1984: Montana State University, NCAA D1-AA National Champions
then, only 11 years after MSU has won three national championships, the griz finally get their first one
Basketball
1928-1929: Montana State University: Collegiate National Champions
Note: the griz have never won a national championshipship in basketball
PDX, you're absolutely right - traditions do start early!

They're already on the front page of Bobcat Nation, in case you would like to admire them.

I wouldn't call some titles lifetimes ago "tradition"
68-36-5
That my friends is called
DOMINANCE
Congrats on your basketball title from 1928 though - it feels like it's almost been that long since you guys sniffed the tournament.
Therefore, in order for anything to be called "tradition" - you have to actually have done SOMETHING in the last 20 years

Doesn't matter if it was 20 years ago or 100 years ago. Bottom line is the names are still etched in the history books, the National Championship trophies are still on the shelf, and MSU still has more.

Um, yes it does matter....
tra·di·tion
a continuing pattern of culture beliefs or practices
(in other words, a media national championship in 1929 and the fact that you have not gotten near the tournament at all in over a decade is not exactly a continuing pattern........same goes for football)
