I heard a rumor today that the NCAA is investigating whether or not Davis was eligible to play during the 2010 season, and if not that our wins and BSC Championship would be taken away. Hopefully this is just some rumor being passed around but has anybody else heard anything about it???

Old rumor. Won't affect our wins. Orenzo is his own problem.

nope. some dub-foncy guy and i think bear axed seem to think that over there but the fact that they even said it shows how little they know about the situation. no wins will be taken away. hasn't even been discussed. davis definitely made some errors in judgment regarding attending class for a while though.

Actually it was discussed. I believe in one of Will's blogs he said that last year will not be affected. It is an eligibility issue for 2011 only--that came from Coach Ash.

i guess i was under the impression that he wrote that to squash the rumors floating around. i never heard one thing about the coaches or athletic department talking about us taking away wins. guess i could be wrong.

Denarius won't be going anywhere. Just rumors. That's why his high school teammate transferred from Nebraska to come play with him here. So no need to worry about that.

Just an FYI, I was being sarcastic when I posted that.

I was told by MSU, and posted previously, that the Davis situation will not affect last year. I was also told that if his NCAA issue is cleared up he will be academically eligible to play. Davis is enrolled at MSU currently and attending classes. Reading between the lines I have to think that Davis will be back in good standing with the NCAA in mid-February. I'm like 90/10 on that. Sorry, but that's as definitive as I can be.

I hope you are right TomCat. You seem pretty optomistic on the situation, hopefully you know sometihing that others dont. I'm just curious on your outlook, Will seems to disagree that Davis will be eligible.

I saw that, but I think that may be a case of expect the worst, but hope for the best. Afterall, Orenzo and Will are from the same high school. I'm kind of the same with Trey Sprilin right now. I don't think he's going to end up at MSU, but I hope that he gets whatever it is he needs to get turned around, turned around. I just think he needs some direction and focus. Back to Davis, things may have changed since I got the info I got, but at that time it sounded like something fairly simple to correct. One of those things that when you find out you say, "Oh, that figures." I was told I was reading way too much into it, which is why I'm guessing it isn't anything too complicated. Then again I might've been reading too much into being told that I was reading to much into it.

Believe Trey Spirlin will be a Bobcat before Fall camp.

Sorry, ilovethecats. It was Tom, not Will that posted it was a 2011 inelligibility issue and would not affect last year. I knew someone who talked to Coach Ash posted it.

oh no worries. and maybe tom can clear this up but i still don't think there was ever talk amongst the coaches or athletic department regarding our wins getting taken away. i know there were rumors, and i'm glad that tom asked ash...but i would be curious to see if there was any more discussion on the matter. i was under the impression that losing wins was never an option in this matter, and it was nothing more than some ill-informed griz saying stuff on egriz.

Correct me if I am wrong, but the NCAA would have said, from the beginning, of the announcement if anything about Davis' eligibility for 2010 was in question. As far as I have seen, nothing from MSU or NCAA has been about the 2010 season, so there is no controversy about our BSC Championship. It is in the books, whether eGriz likes it or not.
