Not trying to piss the kitties off

I really am interested in why State fans in this forum are so angry with Griz fans.
Ive scaned thru alot of the furum and the anger level is extreme
As a Griz fan and realist (I stated the griz as 8-3 this year)- I wonder what the cat fans would think if
1- They had beat thier instate rival 17 out of 19
2- Played in every playoffs since Clinton was President
3- Played in 5 Championship games
4- Have went thru 4 coaches and still win
5- Play in the Greatest stadium in 1-AA
What gives...
I know we can be a little overBEARing- But would not you be the same if you were in our shoes???
PS Ill give you
1- 2 out of 3 and
2- 3 national Champs (although that was long ago and 2 were a different level)
Lets Talknot scream
Can we all just get along???

It is probably a little different for every CAT fan. There is no doubt that the overall success of the Griz (something we have yet to match) and "The Streak" play a part in the frustration. For me I felt the same about the Griz throughout the 70's when we (the Cats) dominated.
To most of us it seems like most Griz fans are very obnoxious but then I know most Griz fans feel that way about us. We are not very good losers or winners when it comes to Cat/Griz.
One other point you hear over and over is the change in the Griz fan base over the years. At MSU we have had the same base of fans (about 8K - 9K) for the last 25 years. We spike up to 12K when we have very good years. In Missoula you went from a very small disinterested fan base in the 70"s (I was at many of those games at Dornblaser) to a HUGE fan base today that on the surface seems to have a very foreign feel to it (Lots of out of staters who never heard of the Griz until they moved into Western Montana and decided to pick U of M as 'Their" team becaise they win). Nothing really wrong with that but it bugs the hell out of many of us.
I have a huge dislike for Griz Athletics, U of M and Missoula. I have since Jr. High. Yet, I have friends that went to the U of M and I have friends that are die hard Griz fans. I have said this before but it comes down to rivalries. Here in Minnesota we hate the Packers and Ohio State hates Michigan and Hamilton hates Corvallis and Stevensville (though I would argue that none of those rivalries is as intense as Cat/ Griz). Rivalries bring out the passion and intensity in most sports fans. And I would not have it any other way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had always wondered what went wrong with you after you got out of High School, becoming a Cat fan and all. Up until now I had attributed it to a bad batch of Bohemian Beer at the Senior party or something like that!
But to know that you came to Hamilton already a Cat fan, well that explains a lot! Actually, I can over look the Cat fan thing but I'll NEVER understand the Viking thing. Are Tice and the other coaches putting up their Super Bowl tickets already this year? They sure won't need'em! Since he is a Viking I'm assuming he thinks he can get away with it this time!
Go Griz/Packers!!!!

I only remember Brown Derby, Schmidt and Oly. But then I don't remember much about the Senior party!

scats,
You have obviously confused anger with strong dislike which, as we speak, continues to evolve into hatred. Bobcat fans acknowledge that the griz football program had dominated the Big Sky for 20 years up to 2002 (except for the 1984 Bobcat National Championship!). This domination has led to a strong dislike for the griz. The burning hatred Bobcats have for grizzlies is a result of the way the griz 'fans' have handled their success. It is a combination of the lack of respect given to the Cats, even after we beat you 2 out of the last 3 years, and the arrogance of griz 'fans'.
scats, we're not angry, we despise you and all obnoxious griz fans. I believe that after the Cats kick your butt in Bozeman and win the conference, our fans will show more class than the griz fans.
I imagine that even in defeat, the griz fans will stoop to the same level of stupidity as booby and find new ways to attempt to insult the Bobcats.

Oh no, Derby Brown was $1.25 a six pack. Bohemian was $.99!!
Come to think of it, you owe me $.99!

(Plus interest!)

I doubt that the kitty fans would ever show any class if they won... havn't yet- so why would they start this year?
We shall see but I bet you are wrong
As far a Bobby Its hard to believe that the comment "STATE" could get so many furballs stuck in cats fans throats!!! It shows you have along way to go before you are respectable. Those kind of comments happen (to the griz) almost every game the Griz play
Your coach every month calls us those guys or something similar- and I dont see anyone complaining
BECAUSE GRIZ FANS AND PLAYERS DONT TAKE IT PERSONAL... Its called gamesmanship- something the kitties no nothing about
If you guys want to play with the big boys then step up and realize that if you worry about the little things like "STATE" you forget about the big things like winning a game or two...
By the way I STILL SAY YOU START 1-3 or 0-4

Neither side is classy. The Cats are more obnoxious and loud mouthed when we win, and the Griz are more stuck up and snobby when they do. Neither is classy.
This is the old "well we'll start being classy when they do" fight, and it is never going to happen.
Face it, the streak did this. We got bitter, and you got cocky. We get pissy when you bash our team in any way, and you get the "we are better than you in every way" attitude, which just makes us even more bitter. Nobody likes arrogant snobs, except other arrogant snobs.
bearBAC wrote:Pathetic?
Yes, you certainly are.
Most Cat fans will tell you we don't hate the university, the athletes, or any of that. We hate the fans. The Griz have been the big bully for so long, pushing the Cats down and we couldn't do anything about it. Are you really that surprised we are so bitter and so obnoxious since we have tasted victory in the last 3 years?
Or the Griz are like Britain, getting all cocky and annoyed when the Colonies started lashing out. Push someone down for so long they are going to snap.

I never mentioned booby's state comment. That is just one of many arrogant, ignorant comments that bevis has a habit of making, but that wasn't even on my mind.
I'm shocked that the griz being called 'those guys' doesnt' really offend you! Wow, what a put down, you should be outraged! That is about the height of disrespect and contempt.
Gamemanship? The frizzlies? What a joke. I wonder who are the bigger idiots, the fans or the coach.
Bevis should take note of how Joe Glenn carried himself. Although we disliked the friz in the Glenn days, at least Coach Glenn was gracious when he won, and as important, when he lost.
So now the friz are the 'big boys'? What a laugh. After we take 3 of 4 from you, will we be respectable? Face it, the Cats will never be respectable in your eyes no matter how many times we beat you. Like bevis, you will always have an excuse.

One thing I am sure of is when the Cats beat the Griz this year and have won 3 out of the last 4 Cat/Griz games Griz fans will still say “The Griz have won 17 out of the last 20” and when we win in 2006 we will hear “The Griz have won 17 out of the last 21.”
Oh, and Bobby is an idiot. The only good thing that Bobby has done for UM is weakening the football program. I will give him credit for that.

Then why do you tree hugging, dope smoking, SUV hating, capitilist loathing, same sex marriage condoning, hippie, dirt bags continue to contaminate Bobcat Nation?
If you are here only to inflame, go back to e-griz. You will be more comfortable among your fellow losers there.

Don't get too worked up going down that road, Rico. Most of the dumbasses that talk smack for the Griz are just as right-wing as the next guy. In fact, there's kind of a high correlation between the eagerness to invoke the term "liberal" as inherently derogatory and the desire to talk mindless smack. Can't quite put my finger on that connection....

BAC,
I will refrain from stereotyping the political views of the friz fans.
I don't know about most of the dumbass smack talkers for the griz being as right-wing as the next guy. Perhaps we will have to agree to disagree and leave the politics out of it.

BAC I take offense to that remark I'm more liberal than you are.
MQ BH may have ruined Griz football but at least he can make it to the playoffs and host home playoff games. You only wish Mr. Clean could wreak cat ball in the same manner. Quiz last time state won 8 football games?
You guys do know this is the smack board and the part about not needed the cats was all in good taste?
