the finger to "griz country"

Post by Common Cat » Tue Jul 05, 2011 5:00 pm

Rollin through missoula heading East the other weekend and coming into town there is a UM billboard with something like "this is griz country" or something lame like that...anyways, an involuntary middle finger went straight up as I passed it and it happened again as I was passing Washington Griz Stadium...felt as natural as could be. My fiance just laughed asked, "where did that come from?" and I honestly couldn't explain it... Has this happen to you too?

yep, ditto here.

We were driving back from the Seattle area several years ago and there was a fire in the area (possibly the big Frenchtown fire either that or Mount Jumbo). It was the best trip through there ever because the smoke was so thick you couldn't see a thing.

A similar thing happened to me last month while driving I-90 through Bozeman. Eerie! Must be a mass phenomenon, as I've heard stories from many people who have experienced the same thing, whether it be Bozeman or Missoula. It's like that scene from "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" where they ask the assembled Hindus where the sound came from, and they all point straight up, only in this case with the middle finger. I knew the Cats and Griz had something in common. It's a start.

Did you see me last week?? I was proudly flying the great colors at Pikes one night, the Pumphouse another and -- of course -- at the Midnight Mine!

Unfortunately I didnt see you. . . I wish I would have, I could have saved a lot of people from reading any more of your posts! kidding!  Those are all great places to visit here in Fairbanks. I do see a lot griz fans up here. There are 3 MSU Alum at my office, so that makes up for it!

This is too funny. My wife thinks I'm the only one who does this. A couple of months ago while passing through, I apparently forgot to salute the stadium and my wife asked me "What's wrong with you?" .... so the next time we drove through I flipped them off... twice. :)

Retiring my moniker. It's time to ride off into the sunset. It's been a fun ride. Go Cats.

This topic cracks me up. I love it that my bobcat brothers give the finger to WA_Griz. =D^

I'd probably get into a fight if I gave the "you're number one" salute to all those sporting griz plates in G.F.

I must say I love the guy who owns the Tahoe I see around town who has personalized Bobcat plates that read "ESGGCG"

I have never done any of the above, but admit my stomach churns a little when I see griz logo stuff. While living in Seattle, one of my favorite jackets was a maroon fleece(no logos). Now that I'm back in Great Falls it has sat in the closet for several years.........
