Bob Cat -Griz
After being gone from the beautiful state of Montana for many years, my wife and I are fortunate to have been able to recently return. What a great time for Montana college football. We now, for the first time in several years get the choice to attend either A Montana State Game or a University of Montana game. Neither one of us are alumni of either school. We have no alumni loyalty to either program. Having said this, we have attended games at both Mont State and Washington Stadium. I have to say the Cats are coming around, but as far as game day atmosphere they have a tremendous amount of space to make up when compared to the Griz. Overall, the Griz fans are more educated on the game of football (probably because they have been able to observe better ball, the last several years). Also, it appears to me that some of the Cat supporters are just on the new band wagon. They have hooked onto the program recently as a status symbol and were no where to be found during their difficult years. If Ash can stay in Bozeman and continue to build the program, someday both teams will have first class facilities and true football fans.

Hey, thanks for stopping by, new guy! I hope someday you can think we're alright too!
Nobody's ever told us we aren't quite where the Grizzlies are yet, so it's awesome of you to bring it up.

3/10 in the troll department. I've seen better, but you got me to respond, so good on you.

Overall, fans that have been away from Montana for any considerable period of time return to the state thinking they know much more than they actually know.Cranky wrote:After being gone from the beautiful state of Montana for many years, my wife and I are fortunate to have been able to recently return. You know ... this one kinda smells a bit, so ... let's move it to the smack/"unsolicited criticism from 'disinterested' parties that just assume we want to hear it" board.

As you can probably tell, I am new to these message boards. I post an opinion, and now I am referred to as a troll. What is a troll? If you want to refute some of my observations or points, talk intelligently. Some of you are sounding like the 60 year old, that has never played a down of football, and now that the Cats are on their current roll, he is attending the quarter back club. I went as a guest to one of their meetings and met a bunch of these "new" fans. Hopefully they are spending someof their wealth on books and tapes that teach football.

For starters, sh!tbird, you implied that MSU is full of bandwagon fans, and that it isn't the case in Missoula. They've had to expand the stadium in Missoula 3 times in the last 8 years due to so many bandwagon fans. If you don't like our program and think our fans aren't worthy of having you join, go away. Now please step in front of a speeding truck.Cranky wrote:As you can probably tell, I am new to these message boards. I post an opinion, and now I am referred to as a troll. What is a troll? I'll up my previous ranking to a 4.5/10 for persistent, if unimaginative trolling. Sorry, that's the best I can give you.

If this were for real, I'd say you've been gone for less than 20 years or so. Otherwise your recollection would be back when the Cats were the better program, etc. and you wouldn't be saying the Cats are coming around but that it's nice to see that the Griz are now competetive.Cranky wrote:After being gone from the beautiful state of Montana for many years, my wife and I are fortunate to have been able to recently return. What I find the most amazing about Grizzly football is the fact that they have been so succesfull over the last two decades and have never had any bandwagon fans. I can only dream of my fellow Cat fans can get a hold of these "tapes" that cranky speaks of. This guy might be on to something. Im gonna ask the smoker lady in Griz pajama bottoms who lives next door to Thriftway if she will help me break down some film. Who knows, she might just have some of these "tapes".

First of all it is CAT-Griz. Please go support the Griz. They need fans like you cause you don't know where your loyalty lies. If and when you figure is out, we still don't want you. (oh my God, I just wasted a minute of my life responding to an idiot.)

Re: Bob Cat -Griz
"Bob cat" = troll attempt
Cat fans aren't as educated on football = troll attempt
game day atmosphere = more troll attempt
thinly veiled smak = troll-a-palooza
"griz - Cat" = troller gonna troll
Of those listed, only the third is hotly contested. Apparently you've missed the legion of mouth-breathing, vitriol spewing griz bandwagoners while you were away.

Re: Bob Cat -Griz
Well the Griz fans may be more educated in the game of football that is true. I believe you have to go through a rigorous training seminar which includes completely understanding every subtle nuance and obsure rule of the game before you are actually able to be inducted into the band of griz so you are more in tune with the complications of game day that normal idiots do not understand. And one more casual observation, I believe that the CAT fans are better dressed than griz fans during the game (probably because they are able to observe better dressing the last several years).
