For purposes of clarity, I think all of those polls are for 2003.

Clarity and bearBAC's posts rarely, if ever, coincide anywhere on the same page.

When I first saw that, I had to wonder who in the heck was voting, because it sure looked odd to see that outlook for the coming season. Sure enough, scroll down...

What's the point supposed to be here... that the Big Sky coaches are more knowledgeable about the Big Sky teams than media members and can therefore predict the standings more accurately? And all this time I could've sworn that the writers who "cover" the Bobcats for the Chronicle knew way more about the other Big Sky teams than Kramer!

Only poll that matters to me is that the Cats were BIG SKY CHAMPS again this year. :) Maybe the coaches/media will get it right this year. The Bobcats aren't going away anytime soon.

Yes, I was going to say... Kramer said we'll most likely be ranked 3rd or 4th in the Big Sky on both coaches and media, just like last year. He also said that just like last year and the year before, regardless of the polls, we'll probably end up on top!

Neither does a redshirt freshman head coach who can't call plays, a school with a freshman Athletic Director, nor does a team with a gimp at QB, young and unproven O-line, and a secondary that resembles Swiss cheese!

bearBAC: Were you ever going to grace us with an explanation of why you are posting historical preseason polls? Was there a point to that, or did you just not realize what year they related to?

I'm guessing the latter...

I'll move this thread to the smack board if for no other reason than to get rid of the confusion it might cause if people didn't realize that it wasn't current information. It gets a few smack-leaning points for just being a strangely pointless initial post as well.

I'm trying to think of a comeback for this.....

Damn you Bobby, grow some balls!

Mcfarland and Skinner were freshman last year? Wow, didn't know that .. they must have gotten the NFL exception/gone through the court system to be eligible for the NFL draft then. My bad

Regardless, polls don't mean squat and can possibly hinder a team. Look at the Friz for god sake. They are fairly positive that they are going to win it all, and really take the poll thing to heart. In the past, we have been in the Top 25, and look what happens, we end up losing games we should have won, because of the stigma of where they were sitting in the polls. Consider it a benchmark, and like a good sportsman, try to improve on it. I can't wait until the season starts. GO CATS!!

Let me try and understand this logic of yours....The Cats lost some games because of some votes....in some meaningless polls??? I'm.....at a loss.

Don't come to an arguement unarmed.

I assume grizhatr is referring to our (many Bobcat fans') belief in the "Top 25 Hex" that has historically caused the Cats to lose everytime they enter the Top 25 for the first time. I really doubt he was saying that there was a literal connection between the two events -- just our own form of voodoo.

This is one time where it did take a Cat to understand a Cat, I think.

It sux to have Griz envy and know that they will be picked again. What really sux is knowing that with the weak, shallow and very young O-line the kittens will have this year, they don't stand a chance for a third upset.

to UPSET ? is to win a game against a far superior player or team.

Why do all kitten fans call the last 2 games - UPSETS - if they really believed they were in the same class as the Griz
Bareback is cute. He still can't accept that in fact the BOBCATS have been the actual conference champions the past two years - yes, the Griz to get CO-champion honors on the same pedestal as us, albeit one notch lower because of the tie-breaker, in which WE BEAT YOU TWICE to earn the tie-breaker champion honors. 8) He thinks DENIAL is a river in Egypt.

Regarding our O-Line, you better pay atention to yours before bashing ours.
Regarding the Bobcats being in the same class as the Griz? As long as the matchup stays Kramer v Baby Huck, I like our chances!!!

The only thing I don't understand is Kramer as a rookie coach won 4 games with a program coming off a 9 win season. Bobby won 9 games. Yes, Kramer has beaten the Grizz two years in a row but, his over all record is marginal at best. This is the year the cats need to try to win 9 or 10 games. Good luck.
