If the Cats go 6-5 and miss the playoff's is he down the road?

If he has a year like the last two....somehow comes back and wins a piece of the sky, an away playoff game and a loss, does he get the boot?

Or, is he so well liked that he could lose the rest of his games, get caught poaching and have an affair with one of his players that he would still be there next year?

Most of you have zero respect for Hauck and I sincerely want to know what everyone thinks of Kramer.

Kramer is safe. If he goes 2 straight years missing playoffs and losing to Griz I would say he would be in hot water.

Kramer will move up before too long. He has successfully turned around two programs and is looking to turn a 3rd around. It is not a question of the Program getting rid of him, it is a question of when he wants to move on.

I agree with suck. I believe if he wins 7 this year he will get offers. I don't think he'd take a job like an Idaho or Utah State, though. He knows he has a group coming back in '05 that may truly have the Cats in a position to compete strongly for the national title. Since this is pretty well recognized, I think he could lose 8 and still be back next year. I predict he will be gone after the 2005 season. Plus, he'll be 52 by then, so his biological clock is peaking.

It's very simple, we gave the Duke of Earl 5 years and jump off a Cliff Hysell 8 after that; neither of those 2 coaching legends even got a SNIFF of a BSC title or a win against the Griz.

Based on that, and the fact that Kramer is 1000 times better at raising $$ than any of his predecessors, I'd say the job is his as long as he wants it; regardless of his record! (can you say Mick Durham?)

That makes complete sense. Never thought of it that way.

Krames is rock solid as HC as long as he wants to stay.

Firs thing that came to mind: Can you imagine Don Bailey in charge of the one time explosive BSU offense? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA (althought it would be a nice homecoming for Pete K.)


If Kramer ends up at BSU, I say good for him. This is obviously speculation. First of all Hawkins will have to leave. Assuming that happens, I think that the cats would have to win at least one playoff game from Kramer to even be considered. I could be wrong, but if we end up 2nd or 3rd in the conference, I doubt Kramer would get a look.

Also, if I were Krames, I would wait until after next season. Have any of you looked at the team that we're going to have on paper next season? It is SICK!!

Bailey can stay ..... Boise State can't afford Hawkins after this season, so one more year at BSU will be a bonus. Early season speculation was if Willingham struggled at Notre Dame, Hawk would end up there. His kid is a junior in high school, and a huge payday is in the near future. I agree that Kramer would need to win at least a playoff game to get a look, but his stock is definately on the rise.

once again look at the records of guys that moved up from 1-AA to 1-A. Mr. Clean isn't close...they all won 1-AA championships and had at least a .650 winning %. I don't think Kramer is going any place other than Bozeman for a long, long time. I can live with the cats going 6-5, 5-6, 7-4, 4-7 for the next 10 years. Since, Kramer is so good at coaching against the Griz I'm sure the cats will love to keep him around.

Side note. Don't BH and Kramer coach the special teams.....who do you think does a better job?

I like Kramer a lot and hope he stays a few more years. I don't think he's really moved himself into contention for a BSU type job at all. If he gets a 1A job, it would more likely be some place like UI, his alma mater, or USU, or maybe Nevada. He likes re-building projects anyway. We've been very fortunate this year, but don't forget how much difference there is between our 5-2 record and a 2-5 record. This team has shown incredible resilience and potential, but they haven't shown that they can really beat a good team (or a bad team). Go Cats, beat the Jackalopes!

Overall I like what Kramer has done with our special team units. In the return game(s) we took a huge loss this year with Corey Smith, again when his successor was lost for the year (Eddie Smith), and also Brandon Roosevelt who was lost for kickoff returns against ISU. Last year Corey was a threat to score every kickoff and/or punt not the case this year. Kramer has dramtically improved our kicking game this year with the addition of Travis Doroski - kickoffs used to scare the hell out of me, not the case anymore. Our place kicking situation is still an achilles heal right now but I think EJ will be okay. Our punting is in good shape as well. Travis' roll punts are a pretty secure way to limit the return game and EJ has been brilliant when asked to boom it deep. Special teams is not our problem. Offense production equating to point production is my concern.

KRAMER IS KING!

The success of the football program has meant SO much to our athletic department as a whole. Ask the folks raising money for scholarships how much easier their job is now than when Hysell or Solomonson were leading(?) the troops; and that's not just because we've won back-to-back BSC titles. Kramer is just a natural; no matter what our record, he always leaves you feeling GOOD about our program...

It is unfortunate that the idiots on the Board of Regents will not allow our universities to offer multi-year contracts. This is a HUGE reason why the coaches at MSU & UM are constantly looking elsewhere. I'm confident that if Coach K had been offered a 3 or 4 year deal at the beginning of this season, he'd have taken it.

As for Kramer at BSU? Only if we win the National Championship THIS season. Others have stated the obvious; no matter how enthusiastic, gregarious, and likable Krames is, I serious doubt that his overall W/L record would make him a viable candidate for the BSU job. They will have a TON of candidates if the job opens up - ONLY 4 TEAMS IN 1A HAVE WON MORE GAMES THAN BSU THE LAST 5 YEARS.

I think the Idaho job is the one we need to worry about; close to his "stomping grounds", better pay, and who more than Kramer would love to take over the WORST team in 1A football? Plus, he gets the added bonus of STILL beating the Griz every now and then!
