Griz Out Scored in 6 of 9 games

The griz have been out scored in 6 of there 9 games this season in the 4th quarter. I will be felling fine on saturday even if we trail by a score to 2 come the 4th quarter. The griz can't seem to finish off an opponent down the stretch. I only used 9 games, becuase I left out the Cal Poly game because the griz and mustangs each scored 3 points in the 4th quarter of this one (ohhhhhhh.....wait a minute....The mustangs scored 3 points in the 4th quarter of this game, but I just remembered that the griz didn't score 3 points in the 4th quarter, THE REF's GAVE THEM 3 POINTS IN THE 4TH QUARTER.) So they've actually been out scored in 7 of there 10 games in the 4th quarter this season. My bad, I'll try to do better research before posting next time.

As a fellow Cat fan I would be very careful about talking smack about any other team not being able "to finish off an opponent down the stretch." Just fair warning here, glass houses and all.

KMAX - I'm smelling fear from you and I don't like it. They (griz fans) feed on fear and we can't afford that. Just slowly move away from the thread.

The Griz can't finish off teams huh? I won't even comment......just a quick chuckle will do well enough.
If the entire game came down the most points scored in the 4th quarter you'd be right.....the Griz are no good and can't beat anyone. As it stands the game football is played for four quarters (hence the term
quarter). The winner of a game of football is declared by totaling the number of points scored in all four quarters. Just thought I'd help ya out.

Nope, no fear. As I have told others, this is the best I have felt about a Cat/Griz ever. I'm just saying, be careful what you smack others for, our Cats haven't exactly shown killer instinct during our recent winning streak.

I agree it's a game of quarters. I was just pointing out that the final quarter (the one we refer to in football as the 4th quarter) the Griz have been out scored in 7 of there 10 games. Therefore, if the Cats are close in the 4th quarter, I would feel fairly comfortable in the fact that we could still pull the game out. Simple Math

BUT what about the 111 points the Griz have all the 3rd Quarters, by that time the 3-4 string get some playing time.
Nice try

This is a 4th quarter thread, not a 3rd quarter thread.
Nice Try

Win all the fourth quarters you want. So long as we have more total points over all quarters than our opponents I'll be happy.

I believe what he is trying to get across to you Thunder, is that if the score is like 45-3 after 3 quarters, the fourth quarter scoring is really not worth tracking as the game has been decided and personnel, effort, etc. are different.

I see what he's saying, and there were some games that were like that, but there were also some games like PSU, Weber and NAU that the griz blew pretty big leads to only squeek it out in the end. That's why, I say that if were within a couple scores in that 4th qtr, I'm still feeling fairly confident we can pull it out.

This is, without question, the dumbest thread ever.

Hard to argue with you on this one.

I don't know how points scored during garbage time is relative to anything.
Agree with some of the others, stupid thread

111 pts divided by 10 games... lets see... a little more than 10 points, wow, how will we ever survive that third quarter assault.

Of course, it is an
average, right? If we averaged over ten points per quarter, we'd be averaging over 40 per game. How confident are you that the Cats would win if we scored 40?

I'll take an average of 10 points in each and every quarter, thank you very much.

Yeah, it was an average, very good. However, it was an average of third quarter scoring. Unfortunately your theory plops into the toilet when one realizes that there is only one third quarter per game. Unfortunately for the Griz, they don't even come close to averaging 10 points per the other three quarters.
Lets ditch the numerical formulas and get straight to the real deal. The Griz are going to lose (probably in a blowout) because:
A. They just aren't as talented as the Cats. Not at one position. The Cats are faster, stronger, more skilled and just plain meaner across the board.
B. Thanks to the mindset of Kramer, the Cats don't buy into the Griz mystique like the rest of the conference still does. We know they're a tissue-paper tiger, extremely soft and ready to be shredded. This has been the case for years.
C. The Griz will be without their biggest weapon, dumb luck, as the Cats will play mistake-free ball on Saturday, thus eliminating luck from the equation.
Sure, C is a wildcard hypothetical, but A and B are firmly grounded in the present reality.
