Sound Like Phencie?

Post by rtb » Thu Nov 16, 2006 2:05 pm

I found this on sportspickle.com and while laughing I though some of you Griz fans might believe this could easily be Rob Phenicie.
Receivers coach keeps instructing receivers to “get open”
The Tennessee Titans have the fourth-worst passing offense in the entire NFL, and the team’s wide receivers think part of the problem is that their position coach has no idea what he is doing.
“He’ll come up to us after we end a possession and say: ‘Come on. You guys have to get open. We need you to get open out there,’” said wide receiver Drew Bennett. “But as for any direction on how exactly to do that? Or what reads he thinks we can make based off the defense? Yeah. Nothing.”
David Givens, who joined the Titans in the offseason, doubts his new position coach ever even played football or knows anything about it.
“In training camp he would just show highlight reels of Jerry Rice or Terrell Owens and say: ‘Watch and learn, gentlemen. Watch and learn.’ And then he’d just sit in the corner and eat a sandwich and flip through a copy of People magazine. I asked him about what to do against a Cover-2 defense and he just said: ‘You know what to do. Just trust your instincts.’ So then I asked him about what to do against a Pink Elephant defense and he told me to: ‘Do what you do and get open. Get open that’s all.’ He didn’t even realize I made up a defense. The guy is a moron. I have no idea how he got the job.”
