Equitable Univeristy Athletic Funding

Post by MoBoCat » Thu Nov 23, 2006 3:01 pm

Should all monies, including donations, contributions and cash derived from boosters and benefactors be equally divided amongst the two major universities in Montana, to make an equitable playing field for all, instead of one reaping great benefits of wealthy contributors at the expense of the other university's athletic teams? Cat vs Griz??????????

You don't want to start doing that.

Only if you want to split research grants and other alumni donations. Keep in mind it is a university not a sports factory.

Weren't MSU student tuition / fees raised to help offset dUMb's $1 million shortfall? That's what I keep hearing from people who graduated from Bozeman in the last couple of years.

If that's the case, dUMb should in part subsidize our new sky boxes so the Cats can bring in an additional $500,000 per year. For ourselves, of course.

That sounds fair to me.

*looks down at watch to note the seconds it takes the Jizz to reply there's no way something like that could ever happen*

Why force someone to have to donate to both schools? And where do we draw the line? Let's give some of the money to MT Tech, UM-Western, MSU Billings, MSU Northern, etc. too while we're at it. If I donate money to MSU, I want it all to go to MSU.

Quit talking to students at msu. They don't have a clue about our short fall. Our deficet was paid in full by us.

Come on football fans, think outside the box, look at the inequities and the recruiting of athletes and why they would go to a particular Montana school or not. Facilities, stadium, fans, weight rooms, uniforms, turf, equipment, all factors that money can buy. Do you think that out of state players don't see where the money is and the facilities are when choosing a school? So do the in state athletes, very seldom is it an academics
choice but it does happen

Hey Portland CAT, do you really think it is not all about the money and a sports factory? Just think what either UM or MSU would do without a football program? Yeah, you get my point, they might become an academic institution. Besides why would you sign to play A & M next year for $450,000 and then try to cancel North Dakota State? Money????? It is certainly not for the prestige of a good butt whippin.

Lets split the monies amongst all the colleges in Montana, that is even a better idea yet. You want to support Montana, give to Montana. You want to be selfish and greedy and only have YOUR money given to your team, give it to charity instead. This is the kind of greediness that breeds hate and contempt amongst Montanans Think of the fairness and equity on the football field if all money factors were equal. Wow what a Griz-CAt game that might be. Come on kitties, get out of the box and think about it!!!

I'm still not following whatever point is being made ... and I am confused as to why a person posting as a "Cat" would refer to Bobcat fans as "kitties," ... and this whole thread is just confusing to me.

Is "out of the box" some new euphemism for an altered state of conciousness brought on by the intake of controlled substances?

No, I'm not stupid you f**king ***hole. I have this on pretty damn good authority. This person isn't some trust fund, snot-nosed recent graduate. If she says it happened, it happened.

I'll see what I can do to produce some documentation.

And you know this because the UM stayed in close contact with you and kept you abreast during the whole ordeal on your special East Coast-to-UM bat phone?
