Just when I thought I was getting caught up in the moment and thinking the ASU fans/players displayed poor sportsmanship only because we lost, I receive a PM throught this website from GreatAppSt with my score prediction from last weeks thread and a bunch of laughing emiticons underneath.
I could care less about how far off my prediction was (although, I was consistent in that manner all year!), but what I thought was interesting is that it proved that my first intincts were spot on. Thank you for clarifying that for me GreatAppSt.

They are the grizzlies of the east coast.

Except they don't have anywhere near the resume, stadium, etc., etc. to back up the attitude, which makes it even worse.

I was going to say they are much worse than the Grizzlies. At least the Griz have been damn good for about 20 years straight. What the heck has ASU done? Outside of last year.

How does a thread about one bad App State fan turn into a thread slamming Griz fans?
You guys are unbelievable.

I actually think we are saying App fans are annoying and we are starting to want to cheer for the griz if it comes down to them and the mountainqueers.

Huh? Where did you get that everybody is hating on the griz? The only statement negative is the "azzes" comment. They said the Griz have better everything than App. St. and that App. St. hasnt done much in their football program. Please explain to me where we are hating on you other than the one comment? O and to you good luck this weekend against UMass. You guys will win.

It's called "six degrees of griz nation"... everything evenutally leads back to the grizzlies.

I have to agree here. ( god did I just say that?) This is about the App fans not the Griz. Most of the Griz fans were very good to us this last week.
Now I have to go kill myself

I'm saying Griz fans have a right to be whatever it is they are. ASU fans don't. If MSU had been as successful as UM over the last 20 years I would hope we would all be a bit more confident than we are now.

Actually, the comment that got me was "they are the grizzlies of the east coast" (which was in response to someone talking about how obnoxious App State fans have been, and apparently was meant to imply that Griz fans are obnoxious). The "bunch of azzes" comment was just icing on the cake. Other than those
two comments, you're right; the rest of the thread was complimentary of the Griz.
It just seemed like those two comments came completely out of nowhere; that's all. The OP was complaining about one App State fan, and someone automatically responds with "damn, those guys are just like Griz fans."

Just commenting because the new-found love fest for the Bobcats on eGriz (even though everyone on there still calls us "kitties") appears to have fizzled away now that we are no longer in the playoffs. Why is it that even though you guys are still in it, you've still got to make cracks about MSU (a.k.a. the kitties)? Not too different from what the ASU guy is doing. I stated my comment, and you replied. Done deal.
Before you go off on this... yes, I understand that not all Griz fans are obnoxious, and not all Cat fans are obnoxious, and I am sure not all APP fans are obnoxious.

You're right, they aren't. HOWEVER, I'm seeing now that they have more than their fair share. Looks like my App friends (none of whom have hammered me this week like they probably could) are the exceptions rather than the rule. Unfortunate.
As for the "What has App done?" talk, I'd be thrilled to have their resume. Since the inception of I-AA (errrr, PCS), App has been to the playoffs in 1986, 1987, 1989, 1991, 1992, 1994, 1995, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2005 and 2006. Overall playoff record of 14-12. Personally, I think that the pride is back in MSU football and we could be looking at this type of playoff run (hopefully with a better win/loss percentage then theirs). The Cats still have a long way to go, though.

Most fans a highly loyal and are good fans. We have one great visitor from the dark side that we all recognize as joking. Meat. We also get a number who choose to come in here merely to antagonize us or kick us when we're down. Those aren't truly fans. Pregame bantering and jokes are fun, but when it's over, the winner congratulates the loser and vice versa. Poor winners are actually worse than poor losers, in my estimation, especially if they have no affiliation with the school in the first place. Losing teaches one humility and builds character, and unless you've had the misfortune of experiencing that bitter pill, you're simply a classless fairweather fan that can do no more than look at someone else's efforts and gripe or mock.
How many of the efizzle fans who come in here to mock us are in actuality Frontier Conference graduates who merely jumped on the winning program's bandwagon? Ape State has a pretty good tradition and their fans are not all that bad--nor are Furmans, but those I used to sit with in Statesboro...

I, for one, don't mind the kitties...er...CATS.

Five apples started the smack, I just followed along.
Of the 18,900 in WGS last weekend, I'd say there was a pretty good groan when the annouced score was 14-0 Appy. But a pretty loud cheer @ 14-10 Appy. I think most Griz fans DO care about the kitties...er Cats...while in the playoffs.
I'd guess there are more Griz fans that cheer for the kitties...er CATS...than kitties...DAMMIT...CATS that cheer for the Griz.
My .02.

I really don't think you have to be an alum to be a die hard fan. I for one was born and raised a Bobcat. I have 5 out of 8 immediate family members that graduated from MSU and countless extended family members. I chose to go play basketball at Rocky. Trust me I would have chosen MSU over Rocky but I wanted to play college ball. I actually ended up graduating from MSU-Northern. But I'll gladly go toe-to-toe with anybody who thinks they are a bigger fan strictly because they are an alum---my two cents.
