So who was lying, O'Day or Hauck? or the New York Times

On e-griz there is a link to a story

http://www.nytimes.com/2006/12/12/sport ... ref=sports

that states that Bobby was interviewing in Salt Lake with Stanford for their head coaching job. In the Great falls Tribune Jim O'day is quoted as saying that the trip to Salt Lake was strictly recruiting.

What is up with all this? One of the hardest secrets to keep is who is interviewing for a job.....just ask Bobby Petrino and his Auburn escapade. Just admit you are "exploring all possibilities" and get on with it. Everyone knows that the only coaches not looking are people like Joe Pa who are entrenched at the biggest time schools.

I do not think O'Day would flat out lie. Bobby's contract is up in about a week so I would think he could interview with whom ever he wants with out notifying O'Day. Stanford interviewed candidates in Salt Lake to keep it secret. Bobby has never been one of the most forthcoming person with information, as a matter of fact I think his motto is most likely "Need to know only". His wife most likely found out about the trip to Salt Lake, while he was standing in the security line!
