Third play for the Green Bay defense tonight, Joey T. stripped the ball from Issac Bruce and Carroll picked it up and returned it for a TD. Way to go Joey!!!!!

It was a very nice game to have on last night! I was feeling pretty tired and was curled up in bed by 8:10 watching the game, with pretzels. Just kept looking for #24 and wishing him luck. Ah Monday nightfoot ball is so cool, minus the Lenny Kravits 1/2 time!

Actually, if John Madden would just disappear, then I could truly enjoy watching the games. As it is, I find myself yelling bad names at him the entire show. The guy is the master of the obvious (but it takes him 10,000 short words to say it) and oblivious to everything else. I love it when Michaels drops current event (Ukranian election) or pop culture references, and Madden just ignores them or misunderstands them. I have to think that Michaels is just toying with him, thinking back fondly to the days when he had Foutsy and Miller. They might not have been the all-time great football announcing crew, but at least Al had somebody to talk to on his own intelligence level.
They interview Madden on a radio station down here, and they brought up the fact that Cal Poly had just gotten beat by UC-Davis, which messed up their undefeated season. Madden (a Cal Poly alum) admitted that he had no idea that Cal Poly was any good or that they were ranked, and basically said that he didn't follow them at all. How can a guy who played football for a college, and earns his living in football, not at least have a passive interest in his alma mater's football team? Because he's just not very bright, and if it doesn't relate directly to the NFL, he is clueless.
I think he only knows about two players on each team, too, and he just talks about them the entire game in glowing terms, regardless of how they are playing. For example, for the Packers those two are Al Harris and Brett Favre. The rest of the team is too complicated.
Yeah... I don't much like Madden. Did I mention the part where he was ripping on the refs for (gasp!) conferring with each other on a sideline catch call before making their call? He was baffled by that concept. Considering that his range of knowledge is limited exclusively to the NFL, it's amazing that he doesn't even understand that very well. Al Davis was obviously the coach by proxy when Madden was with the Raiders.

Right with you, BAC - I never have been able to stand Madden. I think they should just lock him in a room with Doug Fullerton - combined, there would be four or five total brain cells in the room.
I like Al Michaels, but Bob Costas has always been my favorite announcer, because of his vast knowledge. My only complaint with him is his tendency to wax eloquent just a little too often, but I'll live with it because he does everything else so well.

Ya, that was pretty funny. After that call when he said "So, if they didn't know what the call was when it happened, what changed so they know it now?" I was yelling at the TV saying "Uh, maybe the line judge saw that he was definitely out of bounds but didn't have the angle on whether or not he would have come down in bounds had he not been pushed, and that's what they confered about???" Pretty lame.
Great time to be a BOBCAT!
