Not to knock UM, you have a lot returning next year...mainly Lex and a young, vastly improving defense...but losing your receiving corp and Ochs, isnt a top ranking of 4-6 asking an awful lot? In two days, your starting QB hasnt taken a snap in college, and your receivers are a bunch of unproven redshirts who also have yet to take a snap.jagur1 wrote:Cat Pride: Cats 21 to 23, EWU 15 to 12, UM 4 to 6 I'm keeping this post. On preseason ranking. I'd like to hear what everybody thinks on this one. To early to start predicting records
I think the EWU prediction is a good spot.
MSU I think will be a lot closer to EWU's spot than what you are thinking. We return everyone but our TE on one of the best offensive teams in the nation in the best conference in the nation.

The Big Sky's going to look good at the start of the year.
Here's my guess for Big Sky teams in the top 25;
#6 - UM
#8 - EWU
#13 - MSU
PSU could sneak in with a #24 or #25
I think we're going to be the dominant conference next year. If the A-10 can get 4 into the playoffs this year we should be able to get 3

Coming off a national championship and just by reputation alone the griz start next season in the top 5 easy. Eastern Washington should be somewhere in the 10 - 15 range. The Cats I am guessing will be in the 20 - 25 range and no better. Yes we return a mostly intact and very good offense but our defense stunk up the field the last 3 games and even if we replace and fill all the necessary gaps, those players will be unproven commodities and I would guess voters would be hesitant to give us too much early respect. Also, coming off a 6-5 recond season doesn't help the cause either.

How many kids are we going to lose to either eligibility or screwing around playing kids games and get hurt in the offseason? Read comments in another thread about previous coaches and can't help point out how many athletes they lost due to academics...Of course, I always hold my breath this time of year to see if we can keep the good ones eligible, something an actual college has to concern itself with. We aren't one of those Pay your fee, get your B; Go to class everyday get your A institutions...The kids have to demonstrate some kind of academic progress, unlike some other "powers" and legends in their own minds...

7 and 4 could easily get us into the playoffs as long as the wins come against the proper teams (See 2002 and 2003 - 6 and 5?) But I totally agree, it would be nice to not have to rely on the autobid, and a home playoff game would be nice. I feel pretty good about our chances at this point. Kramer is on a mission now...Cat Pride wrote:With today's team, meaning no transfers coming in to fill holes on defense, I think this team can go possibly 7-4. That wont get us into the playoffs.
If the right kids step up in key positions....Domineck on the O...on the D, someone like Pappich, Matakis and the DBs come back healthy...then I honestly think MSU will be hosting playoff game(s).
This team is primed...just need to plug a couple holes. I fully expect to see a preseason ranking around #10 in the nation when the polls come out next year. EWU and UM...hovering right around there too, although I'd say UM has many holes to fill as well.
Great time to be a BOBCAT!
