I'm not looking for the best players, I'm looking for the right players. :)
Nice post! =D^

Yeah, but if he has no skills and can't make big plays, then what? We're 0-11, but everyone gets along....sounds like the politically correct are taking over!! "Everyone gets in for at least one play!"

Not that I'm a big fan of John Madden, but just last night he said, everyone on the team doesn't have to to get along. It impossible to get 54 guys to be friends. Also, when Larry Brown was asked, What would you rather have talent or hard workers? He answered, Talent. Believe me, you need talent.

Most coaches agree.

So it cuts both ways. How about talent and hard workers and guys who understand they don't have to best buddies to work toward the same goal?

Yep .. you need a good mixture of talent/hard workers/role players. Usually these type teams are the ones coaches can mold into championship caliber teams. Larry Brown (Pistons) is a great example as he had combos of both last year.

I wasn't saying the kids don't have to be talented. I don't care if they like each other either. They just have to understand each other. Rhythm is important in football. Of course the players have to be talented, I just meant they don't have to be star players.

Maybe a better example is in Basketball. Even with a team of mostly highly talented, hard working players, a championship team still needs the "gab fillers", or players who don't care about their own stats, or what is asked of them. They just want to win and are willing to do the dirty work that others don't want to do to accomplish that!
