It is in fact Jeff Welsch from the Bozeman Daily Chronicle. I have had a conversation with him via email today talking about his article, this site and the response of our members to his article. For the record he indicated that his reasoning for initially getting in touch with me was "in part because I wasn't ripped to the extent I was accustomed while covering Oregon State." It was a very good conversation and I feel like we both came out with a better understanding of each others' position.

I have invited him to come on the board and share some of the points that he brought up to me with the rest of the board and he has indicated that he may do that in the future. I will withold some of the other comments that he made(which he indicated I could share) until I see if he takes me up on the offer of responding in person to the board.

For confusion sake, there is a Jeff Welch who writes a column in the Chronicle's business magazine. Like I said before, I took no offense whatever to Jeff Welsch's column on this and other message boards. Newspapers have a responsibility to strive to be objective and accurate (which of course is not completely possible). Message boards have little in common with that, as few here are objective and what's presented is a wild melange of facts and fallacies. What's important is that everyone knows the difference. It's also important to know the difference between a column and a report when reading a newspaper. I'd welcome Jeff's words here, but I might also consider it "slumming"; it might also be a no win proposition. Of course, he wouldn't have to tell us who he is.

Yea but, his handle :? put some imagination in to it!! Jeff Welsch! Thats a name not a handle!
Here are some Alternatives:

Welchcat (you can rarely go wrong buy putting "Cat" after any thing.)
jwcat (Ditto above, but less obviuos)
catchronicle (I kind of like this Cat=>Catch thing going on)
catcoverage (reference to Cats and his job)
I-cuvr-da-cats (hip hop message handle)
Idontplagerise (reference the former Chronical Staff)
Jeffcatgriz (Unbias handle)
Manschwho (Defiant / Asian kind of feel)
Lookingforluvinabiggermarket (typical Montana newsman/tv reporter handle)
Kramerwho (oops that Geise 's handle!)
Iwishwaskornhieser (pay tribute your (or Mslacat's) favorite sports writer)

Under no conditions use these handles
Helenacat, helcat, or any combination that involves the word Helena, damn we have enough of them and they are irritaing.

I may have more ideas later, anyone else!

That wasn't a dig at you. You usually just give us great information and a well balanced and informed opinion. I am now also impressed by the humor. Your story about the USPS was good stuff and now this...keep 'em coming mslacat!

Maybe the humor was obscured by the "creative" spelling?

Mslacat - That building you are currently designing will probably collapse due to the large amount of brain power you diverted to the post!!

BTW greetings from Murdo, South Dakota in the midst of a family basketball junket. Waiting for the next ice storm to blow through.

Msla - I'll pm you sometime. Thought I'd mention Concordia is now 18-3 and 8th ranked in NAIA Div. II, but son plays JV mostly. When they beat Montana-Western on New Year's Eve, Alex took a charge from ex-cat Bo Segeberg. Ouch!

Gotta go now. I'll drive straight south to Valentine and try to get out of this fog.
