Re: rumorville regarding new recruits
Apparently Chris Kolone has a younger bother named Steven who is a senior in high school this year who is a 6'8 OL. Anyone know if he will be signing this week and joining his bother on the team?barechestcat wrote:Anyone else heard about the two samoan brothers transferring from Arizona? Supposedly 6'8" and 6'4"ish (and huge). Offensive line is where they've played.

That would be pretty sweet, assuming he's good. Definitely has the size. Can you imagine what their poor parents' grocery bills looked like?!?!wbtfg wrote:Apparently Chris Kolone has a younger bother named Steven who is a senior in high school this year who is a 6'8 OL. On another note, has anyone heard word about how Utterback's visit to Bozeman went this weekend? UM still isn't offering him any money...

This is what I've heard as of yesterday. Cole is/was leaning heavily toward EWU(because of their need for a running back). In a statement previously given he said he was going to visit EWU, UM and ISU. He told several players this weekend he was going to visit MSU not UM(who is set at RB). Question is for MSU fans is; Domineck is going to be a senior next season and is in-fact a pretty good RB, why would Cole take the chance on not getting the job? With Beverly, Seals and Barnett coming back for ISU and UM has Hilliard why even consider them...
SuperPrep Magazine selected Cole as a prep All-American and the No. 3 prospect in the state of Washington…Gatorade Player of the Year for the state and selected to the Tacoma News Tribune Northwest Nugget team…The Bremerton Sun Athlete of the Year as a senior…first team all-state as a junior and senior, and a two-time All-Narrows League selection…two-time league MVP and an all-area selection as a senior…Student Sports Magazine rated him No. 23 on its nationwide running backs list…for his three-year prep career, he rushed for 4,698 yards on 508 carries (9.3 avg.) and scored 71 touchdowns…had back-to-back 2,000-plus yards seasons as a junior and senior…his top prep games for his varsity career included 365 yards and five touchdowns his junior season vs. North Kitsap, 290 yards and three touchdowns vs. Gig Harbor, and 249 yards and four touchdowns as a senior against North Kitsap…earned three letters in football under head coach D.J. Sigurdson…also lettered three years in track as a sprinter. He's 6'1 233 lbs and will be a junior. He rushed for over 100 yards vs Washington State last season...

JD had a very shaky season, and I don't think that the coaches have 100% confidence in JD being the main man. He has fairly severe asthma and has to sit a lot of plays out, and this year he had a bit of a case of fumblitis. BUT I thought he was great in the passing game, both catching passes out of the backfield as well as picking up blitzes.Obzerver wrote:This is what I've heard as of yesterday. If Cole were to come to MSU, I really think that he would probably end up taking JD's job, and JD would be 2nd string or possibly move to FB.

Don't get too excited about this one guys, I have it on good authority that Cole has all but decided on EWU...
Put two and two together, Eastern is this guy's most sensible option, they have the best returning offense in the Big Sky with their only hole being at running back. Also, don't get too upset if we don't land this guy, I did a little research on Cole on OSU's message boards. Take this for its worth, but I guess coaches (and fans) were pretty much disenchanted with Cole and (this is confirmed) were looking to shift him to either safety or linebacker next year. Most people thought he wasn't suited well for half-back and there was push to perhaps move him to fullback if he were to stay on offense. Off course the Big Sky is a far cry from the Pac-10 and I would love to see him do big things for the Cats, but this kid is far from a proven commodity and many even consider him a bust. I would love to see him turn his career around as a Cat, but lets not get our panties in a bunch if he doesn't land here.
Also, talked to a friend of mine who coaches @ Miami (Ohio), who is in the same conference as Bowling Green and I asked him about the Washington kid that the Friz got. I questioned the kid's pedigree because of his lack of numbers and he said that in spite of this the kid is a tremendous athlete and expected he would do big things in the Big Sky. Said the kid would have started for BG if it weren't some sophomore phenom that came in and rewrote the conference rewrote the records books. Apparently has a great arm and wheels to boot. This doesn't mean anything other than don't expect the Griz to be anything than their best next year...

Ryan Cole will be in town this weekend...I would appreciate it if you make his stay a rough one. Do not take him to the Pickle Barrel. If it's sunny make sure to tell him the beautiful scenery is more of an exception than a rule. Tell him the friendly people he will encounter is nothing but a front. Steer him clear of that entertainment guide that lists all the things going on off and on campus. This EWU fan thanks you in advance...

Looks like I should show Cole his way to Three Forks...
After all, we had a pretty big party at our house this summer and I noticed Guinn and a few other football players were there. So you can thank me later.

Depends on how many people he wants to see him play. Averages of 6633 or 12265.

Well I was assuming his choices were down to EWU, and secondarily MSU. I didn't even think UM was in contention, since Hilliard is the main man I'm sure.

I can't imagine anyone taking the job from Hilliard. He has won the starting job, and I don't see anyone taking it from him. That would be like us bringing in a big time transfer running back before Ryan Johnson's senior season.CelticCat wrote:Well I was assuming his choices were down to EWU, and secondarily MSU. Speaking of that, can't we find a loophole and get him back for one more year?wbtfg wrote:I can't imagine anyone taking the job from Hilliard.
