Here are the predictions of the final conference standings and this Thursday's games in the Big Sky.
Projected Final Standings
Montana State 10 / 4
Portland State 9 / 5
Montana 9 / 5
Northern Arizona 8 / 6
Weber State 6 / 8
Eastern Washington 6 / 8
Sacramento State 5 / 9
Idaho State 3 / 11
Thursday's Games
Montana State over Idaho State
Montana over Weber State
Sacramento State over Eastern Waashington
Northern Arizona over Portland State
Things of note. The spread from top to bottom is still very close, only 6.54 Sagarin rating points between the top and bottom teams, by far the tightest of any conference in the country. The projections now basically say that the home team (with a few exceptions in the Big Sky) will likely win each game, all four Thursday games are that way.
The Cats have moved down in projected wins from 11 to 10, the difference is that currently MSU is projected to lose to Sac State down there in a few weeks, this also raised Sac State up to 5 wins, tightening up the spread from the first place team to the seventh place team.
This means that protecting the home court is of the utmost importance to any team, expecially Montana State, according to these projections, if we hold home court, we host the tournament. I encourage everyone to go to all the games they can and lend support to the Cats. They have played very well at home and the crowd can really hlep them. The small confines of the PSU court along with their boistrous fans had a huge positive impact on Portland State and that was a factor in Saturday's game, let's do the same. We need to focus on doing whatever it is we can do to help the Cats win games, going to the game and getting into the crowd support thing is one of them. Let's not wait for good things to happen and then go along, let's be part of making it happen.
