I thought the NAU game would be close and MSU would get blown out in this one. Same net effect. I wonder how good teams that have a mindset that says they are going to win on the road do in road games? The BSCs three teams in the 'bracket bustet?' all got smoked. I really don't think MSU has as good a team as PSU, but we'll find out on Thursday. MSU needs to wear them out and hope UM can coast against EW.

We need a sweep next weekend combined with a Griz win over PSU to tie for first. Then it would come down to whether UM or Sac finishes 3rd in terms of the tiebreaker (if UM is 3rd we host, if Sac is 3rd PSU does). UM is probably liklier than Sac to finish 3rd, so there's still a very realistic chance of hosting.
Here are the standings going into the last weekend:
PSU 10-2
MSU 8-4
SAC 7-6
UM 6-5
WSU 6-7
EWU 5-7
NAU 4-8
ISU 3-10
Looking at the Sac/UM situation if MSU/PSU and Sac/UM finish tied, you don't break that tie with either head-to-head record or record vs. PSU/MSU (both would be 1-3). If EWU gets 5th, UM (probably) wins the tiebreaker there to get 4th, giving 1st to the Cats. If NAU gets 5th, it depends on the result of next week's UM/NAU and Sac/NAU games. Too many "if's" for the Bobcats, a win this weekend would've given them control of their own destiny. Sweep, and host! Oh well...

PSU is up 2 games, with 2 to play. Cats win the Sky if we sweep next weekend and the Vikes lose both games, so we will have to rely on our hippy friends to the west for help, IF we can manage to beat PSU. After how we played this weekend, that is a big if.CatfaninGA wrote:Now don't we need some big time help? Help me out.
PSU should now be 2.5 games up with 2 to play?
In my mind, it doesn't really matter where we finish in the league if we don't take first, because we can't play worth a damn on the road. I'm sorry, this team has just done nothing to show me they are capable of winning twice on the road to win the Big Sky tourney.
On the positive side, maybe a miracle will occur next weekend that will make up for the miracle(s) that occured last year to keep us out of the tourney...

It is a 6-team tourney, the top 2 teams get first-round byes. The first-round games are played at the homes of the 3 and 4 seeds, then the rest of the games are played at the 1st seed's site.CatfaninGA wrote:If we finsish 2nd we go on the road, that makes no sense? Oh wait this is the Fullerton conf.

Nope...they only need to win 2 of 3 to guarantee at least a tie with Sac for 3rdBelgradeBobcat wrote: Does um need to beat NAU to finish 3rd?
Oops, Kris just mistakenly said that MSU definitely owns tiebreaker over PSU.
