According to Matt Dougherty, Jason Macciola is the 9th rated JC transfer in all of college IAA. Hope he can make the transition to IAA football!

Grizzlies had no top tens, but they were ranked #3 recruiting class with just high school players, but not in the top 5 overall.

Also, does it weird anyone else out that Weber's newest JC QB (who might start for all we know) is named Dustin Long? Just when one leaves, another takes his place.

Other BSC rated players and classes of note:
I-A transfer
7. Nic Costa, WR, Portland State (5-11, 205, Arizona) Played WR and QB at Arizona and adds versatility and speed to the PSU attack; may see some time at QB

JC transfer
3. Sam Downs, OL, Idaho State (6-3, 285, Grossmont College) JC Gridwire All-American anchored a line that led Grossmont to 481.5 ypg and 32.3 ppg
8. Dustin Long, QB, Weber State (6-2, 195, Monterey Peninsula JC) Led state of California JC with 3,390 yards and 30 TD in 2004
9. Jason Macciola, DL, Montana State (6-3, 240, DeAnza JC) 20 sacks in 2004 and 31 in two years will bolster the Bobcats’ pass rush

Top Classes (High School Recruits)
3. Montana - The Grizzlies picked up two transfers, but more importantly signed a strong freshman class. Running back Thomas Brooks-Fletcher, defensive lineman Austin Mullins and Missoula twins Jace and Ty Palmer are part of the core group.

I don't know how much stock to put in these. Wasn't Ronnie Rodamar supposed to be a top 10 transfer last year at UM. I don't recall that he ever caught a pass there. Would be interesting to see how last year's picks did.

I don't know how anyone can come up with a top list of recruits for I-AA. With all the teams in the division. How does one keep track of these recruits well enough? It has be to be difficult enough to do that in I-A.

I'm glad to see the ranking at our level. There's about 117 D1 teams with about their full complement of 83 scholarships compared to about 130 1-AA teams with about 20 fewer scholarships, so it's nice to see down the road how worthless an indicator class ranks for recruiting actually is, but hey, it gives us something to talk about other than should we expand as a conference, move up to D1 (as if our board of regents will allow that without that other school over the hill), what's the overall status of the athletic program, etc... Steve Spurrier, among others, always ragged on reporters and their class rank after his last bowl asking something to the effect "How come we always beat those teams that outrecruit us... :P When did spring training for baseball start  I can't take my little man down to watch all the pros...

Did you read the article? THe author and judge of the list knows as well as anyone the rankings are more or less "take with a grain of salt" kind of things, but he loves IAA football and had some spare time.

Besides, you do know there are exactly 117 teams that play football at IAA level... not about 130.

I just found it interesting that we have a player rated in terms of possible impacts their first year on a IAA squad.

...I don't believe in absolutes  There's about...and I was actually thinking that the mid-majors weren't included in the "official" count...and how many of these teams would the average college football fan know even existed :? I think it's neat that one of ours made the list and Coaches class doesn't even show up on the list 8) Guess we'll find out in December how well he filled the holes
