Thanks for posting that, HelenaCat95, that was a goldmine of information.

I assume the commentary was written before Garrison came into the fold as the other possible starting tackle? He wasn't mentioned (except as being included in the roster), but I assume he is a strong favorite to start over Jensen or DeCock, due to his size and experience.

When you look at everything on paper, it is shaping up to be an exciting year. It appears that the pieces we all hoped they would obtain in the off-season have been addressed, and there appears to be a lot of depth all across the board.

Just for perspective, compare this roster to that of a couple years ago. It's just night and day. The program has really developed nicely.

They spelled Winifred (Montana) wrong on the roster... that's just inexcusable.

Somewhere, out there, in a circa early 1900's grave, Ms. Winifred Fergus is wailing from the afterlife, outraged that someone would spell her name wrong and that others would break it down as a phrase. Is nothing sacred?

Yeah, so the town is named after a dead woman whose name isn't very common these days (among caucasians, particularly). It must be time to update it -- maybe it can become a Heather, or a Tiffany.

They'd probably misspell that, as well, just to spite the good town.

Lines on both sides are SOLID. I think we will be more than okay at RB and from what I've seen of the clips from those new secondary people coming in, this could be a VERY VERY SOLID Bobcat team this year. This year they need to START off the season very hard and WIN EVERY GAME. I want a nice seed in the playoffs this year. This is our FINAL BREAK OUT YEAR PLAYOFF WISE. THIS YEAR WE DO SOME DAMAGE.

Not only do both lines look solid, they appear to be very deep. Especially with the arrival of Blake Garrison to play OT and Andy Matakis to play DE. I was surprised to see Travis Nellermoe moved to OT. Is this the only way he is going to see the playing field? I was looking forward to seeing him play some DT this fall.

RB could be scary good. This has to be the deepest we have ever been at RB in a lot of years, if ever! WR not sure about, but we should be okay there. As long as the O-line gives Travis time he should be able to pick apart most Defenses.

Does anybody know how Goodman is going this off season? I have read on here that he is doing fine, but would like to know if he will be 100% at the start of fall camp. I am thinking TE could be the key to the whole year if they are used more.

canyoncat - From what I'm hearing, Goodman is doing well, but it isnt looking like he will be ready until midseason at best. I've heard Kramer say that he is hoping to redshirt him this year, but a large part of that is up to Jason and when he thinks he can play.

Personally, with Blake Wolf's solid - if not spectacular - play at TE, I'd love to see Goodman redshirted, get that knee 100% healed, and come back next year and work people over!

gfallscat, you hearing anything on JGs progress?

Also, I think I speak for everyone in Bobcat Nation when I say that if the Cats utilized their TE more in the passing game, it would open up things for WRs and the running game as well as take blitz pressure off Lulay. Throwing the ball to Blake Wolf 5 times a game could, could, could, make this Bobcat offense lethal.

Lets hope Don Bailey is reading today.

Thanks Pride. If that is the case, I would also like to see him Redshirt this year and get that knee completely healed for next year. I would hate to see him throw away a very promising career by trying to come back too early. Then again it is up to Jason and when you are as good as he is you want to be on the field.

As for using the TE more, we must be turning in that direction with all the High School TE's coming in this fall. There are a passel of em starting with Elliott Barnhart and Brandon Bostick. It will be fun watching these two guys develope along with Nick Parker! If they stay as TE's and aren't moved somewhere else we should be loaded for years to come.

cat pride - i talked to goody yesterday..all is well in his words. he is working out and cannot wait to get on the field. if it is up to him...#88 will be on the field.

Thanks gfcat, good info. Glad to hear Jason is doing all he can to get back on the field game 1, but I hope he isnt rushing anything.

Obviously, if JG is healthy, I want him on the field. Jason is definitely the bigger offensive threat in the passing game - when thrown to (hint hint Bailey) JG is a force that barely a DB in the conference can bring down alone.

But if he's not 100%, or wont be at 100% by start of conference play, then I hope somebody can talk him into redshirting. Even though half a year of JG is better than no year at all, I'd rather see him get totally healthy than get hurt again in '04 - especially when we have a high caliber player in Blake Wolf out there. Lets not forget that MSU has at least two games on artificial turf in domes (NAU, ISU). Not that you sit kids just because of that, but it has to cross your mind when one of your stars has an ailing knee.

i spoke at length with bailey at the lobster feed regarding using the tight end in the offense as a receiver...bailey said there were definately plans to incorporate a receiving tight end scheme...he said that was possible because lulay has solidified the quarterback position and the running game should offer enough diversity to open up the tight end for receptions...now we will have to wait and see if bailey actually follows through...
