Former Bobcat PJ Owsley rumors
Bozeman High guy's I want to know if you can add to of deny any of the substance to an on going rumor concerning PJ Owsley.
************** Multiple Rumor alert ***************
After playing with the Cats for one year PJ transfered to Salt Lake Community College. My understanding his transfer was a choice on his part to get away from Bozeman for a year or so. The Cats were more than willing to have him back and he was with in a few days from signing last fall, before he was injured in practice this year. PJ was initailly quoted (in the Bozeman Chronicle) as saying Durham pulled his offer when he heard of the injury, Publically Durham could not comment, but I have heard Durham absolutely did not pull the scholarship offer, but it was the coach at SLCC insisted that Owsley not commit this year, but redshirt and come back to SLCC next year. Durham was not happy about having been mis-represented in the Chronicle and the relationship between Owsley and Durham is said to have cooled. Jump ahead to a few weeks ago.....
..... I heard from a Griz booster friend of mine that the Griz were about to sign a JC point guard from SLCC and that Krysco was activily courting Owsley for next years recruiting class. They signed that guard, Bryan Ellis, last week. Then today, Wednesday, I heard that the Griz where trying to get a big man team mate of Ellis's (who still had JC some eligiblity left) to sign early (this year as opposed to next) with the Griz, for their one still open Scholarship. Looking at SLCC roster this sure sound like Owsley. I have just read on the griz board a variation of this rumor.
Would Owsley go over to the dark side?
Did Durham and Owsley's relationship sour over the last year?
Can anyone shed and light on these rumors?

I never thought much of Owsley. Seemed to have the "who cares" attitude towards playing, and seemed very tentative.
Watch, now the Fiz will sign him, he'll be really good, and Ill have to eat my words

He also has the body/wing span to grow and become a heck of a player too. He's about a 7 footer with his long arms. If he has put on some more weight he could be a force inside. I bet that is why Krysko is intrigued with him as well.MSU88 wrote:Agreed......he was alot more "maintenence" than many realize......good family.......wants to be a "bad a--."grizzh8r wrote:I never thought much of Owsley. I have heard that PJ was a "free spirtit" but harmless. If he signed this year with D-1 program he would have 3 years of elligiblity remaining. Given what he did for the Bobcats as a true freshman and that the fact he playing/practicing with two of the most highly ranked big men in the JC ranks, I think he would be a great get for a Big Sky team.CARDIAC_CATS wrote:He also has the body/wing span to grow and become a heck of a player too. PJ is currently in town. I also believe he is taking summer classes I saw him on campus looked like he was going to class last week. Not exactly sure whats going on with that, suppose there could be a number of reasons. Either he is going to be here next season or he is just getting some summer credits for the school he will be attending next year I really dont know.
