KRAMER ON SPORTS NUTS

Post by SACCAT » Tue Aug 30, 2005 12:47 pm

1. Gatewood passed a class but his grade was not high enough for the NCAA. Rick is very upset but will take his lumps and be back for NDSU. Kramer also said this is a good chance that for others to step up, including Mike brown.

2. Running game looks good, TE is the only question. JD had a groin strain and Bass looked great. TE must get healthy to see.

3. Kicking game....Hastings looks good, very quick to the ball. Bolton kickoff and punting looks great. bass will return punts, murry will return kickoff.

4. Must take our time on sat. It will be hot and we can't come out and burn all energy at the start.

5. We can win if we take our time and not panic. Fight our way through the game. If we are within a TD at the 10 min mark, we are good to go.

On the kicking game, he said Boltons Kick-offs were very very high, and his punts were going in the 57 yard range.

The red shirt frosh. Mike Brown is a name I had not seen before but Kramer said he is great.

Did Kramer say that Bolton will always punt instead of Lulay, or will both of them punt depending on field position, game situation, etc.?

What about long FG's? I have not been to a scrum, but noticed several questioned the leg strength of Hastings after each scrum, posted on this site. Last week in the GF Tribune after the scrum, K was praising Hastings leg strength, I’m confused!

He made it sound like Lulay will still be punting some times, but that it will be nice to have a traditional punter in situations where a fake is not an option.

The devil made me do it the first time... the second time I done it on my own.

I think Lulay should still punt. Bolton might be averaging 57 a punt, but those are very returneable in the air. I like when Lulay punts as they are usually 45-65 yards with virtually NO RETURN on them. I think he should still do it unless we are at like the 50 and are trying to nail it between the 20's etc.

Hasting doesn't have as strong as leg as Bolton, but he was still booting them through around 45 yards. I can't imagine he can do much over about 50, but he still has an accurate and strong leg.
