OSU on TV

Post by BobcatLionFan » Thu Sep 08, 2005 6:13 pm

On ESPN2 OSU is playing Florida (FAU). The score is 13 to 3 in the 2nd quarter (7 mins left). FAU is not getting any yards and they made mistakes to give OSU points.

It does not look like it is going to be a close game.

20 to 3 OSU

Lots of mistakes but FAU is not going to make it a game.
OSU gives up yards between the 30s, but FAU is not getting close.

There is NO ONE in the stands at FAU.

Must have a couple thousand fans only and 1/2 are OSU.

Crowd is pretty pathetic. Not super impressed with OSU, but their line and running game seems to have worn down the defense. Anybody watch this game that made it down to Stillwater last week that could give us a comparison?

Well, Tirico called this the toughest OOC game OSU would play. So, considering we were 15 total points better on the Cowboys home field, I still feel damn good about our effort a week ago.

Yeah, I heard that comment as well. FAU is pretty young though, watching all the mistakes and how their QB really folded under any type of pressure I think the Cats could give them a good run.

I think OSU has a pretty decent defense. Fla. Atl. QB was 20-28 had 299 and three TD vs. Kansas last week, but only had 91 tonight. They had 369 total yards vs. Kansas. FA only had 220 yards of total off. and gave up 302. OSU was plus 3 in turnovers. It was a short week for both teams, but OSU had to travel and FA had to travel home from Kansas
MSU had 254 yards and gave up 378 vs. OSU.

After watching last nights game and our game last week in Stillwater I have a few thoughts:

First, I am more impressed with our offense after watching last night. I know we only scored 10 points but we moved the ball pretty well overall and I think OSU's defense is better than I thought. For example, we started one drive on our own 1 and had a first down at the OSU 20 before Lulay got steamrolled and fumbled - 79 yard drive/no points. I see us scoring a lot of points tomorrow.

Second, I am less impressed with our defensive effort than I was after the game last week. OSU's offense is really bad right now. They can't throw the ball at all. We made some good stops and kept them to 15 points but I think a large chunk of that can be attributed to their offensive woes right now. I hope I am wrong but this week will be a good measuring stick for how much improved the defense is this season. More than what we learned last week.

More than anything I was (and still am) the most impressed with how poised and confidently we played in the environment we were in. Other than DeCock, I never saw us rattled, tired, scared, etc. I don't see a lot of home field advantages hurting us this season.

Thanks Wycat, that is exactly the kind of analysis I was looking for. Can't wait for tomorrow to see this team in person!

The SFA game has all the makings of a shootout. Didn't we say that before the OSU game? The game seems so big for many reasons. The "Don't-Disappoint-The-Big-Crowd" factor looms over it, plus it has playoff implications (they all do), plus it's another test for the defense (SFA's offense looks good....huge, huge O-line). Plus MSU is still uncertain about the running game.

I think the D will be awsome. In the OSU game the D did a good job with the exception of some linemena playing out of postition on the front line. I am confident that Kramer has drilled their postion and the person they are supposed to guard in their heads. Secondary will be outstanding.

As far as the running game goes, I feel we will be impressed with Bass. And JD will still get some playing time and this could be a great Saturday for him.

Lulay will be his usual outstanding self and Miller will be a favorite target. Just my 2 cents worth.

GO CATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is shaping up to be a huge test for us. OSU's performance last night was lackluster at best. I can't see them winning more than a couple Big 12 games as poorly as their offense looks through 2 games.

That being said, I'm not quite as confident about our Defense this a.m. as I was a few days ago. I'm not saying that they won't end up being great or even good, but it's obvious to any analyst that OSU's O is, well, kind of offensive.

The good news is that it sounds as if SFA will be a very stout test for this D; if the Bobcat D goes out and yields 14 points or less, it's going to be a great year. 14 - 24 points and we still have a way to go and more to learn; more than 24, IMO, and we are going to need #14 & Co. to have huge years to get to & succeed in the playoffs.

Earlier in the week, I was very excited about attending tomorrow's game. Gato Sr. & I were talking on Labor Day that a 38 - 10 game would be a good, solid (and somewhat expected) outcome. But the adrenaline of the OSU game has worn off; couple that with the Cowboys performance last night and while I'm no less excited, I have to admit I'm a little less confident & very anxious.

I'm confident the coaches & players will be ready; I just hope we're as good as we all thought 5 days ago. The focus really needs to be that if we truly deserve to move up in the polls a couple of spots AFTER A LOSS, we simply CANNOT go out and lose our 5th straight game. I'm sure that was a big part of the theme this week; we need to end this losing streak, no matter how confident we felt after the OSU game...

I agree El Gato. The losing streak is a thorn in our side that we need to pull out. We cannot really begin to talk about being a great or even good team until we have a win under our belt.

I am more confident now than I was 5 days ago. I watched the film of the OSU game, which Kramer went through play by play and I am more confident in our D than I have been in several years. Some adjustments were necessary and I am confident that Kramer has made those adjustments. You will see more pressure on the QB this saturday than wwe have in the past.

I am so confident El Gato, that if you are not happy with the D this Saturday I will refund your ticket price. Deal?

Tirico is an uninformed moron. He obviously see's the Div 1-AA next to the Bobcats names & thinks that there is no way you guys can be competitive. Everyone down here (for the most part) agree that MSU was the toughest non conference team we would play.

I have no doubt that you guys could line up & knock heads with many a D1 school. MSU would beat FAU easily.

Our offense is still sputtering. It was a short week, so I guess they didnt have that much time to iron out the kinks. Im thinking we have plenty of time before we take on Arkansas State next week. I hope someone steps up at QB, and the receivers other than Woods learns to catch a ball!

Hey, Ive said before I want to keep up with you guys this year. Can someone post a schedule for me? or PM me with one. I would appreciate it.

Go Pokes & Go Cats!
