New & improved(?) Champ...

Post by El_Gato » Sun Sep 11, 2005 1:55 pm

I haven't seen a single comment about our new mascot. Although his "intro" was very cheesy, I think it's an improvement; THE COSTUME is an improvement, I mean.

What isn't improved, however, is the person inside. If we're not going to put in someone who WANTS to entertain, why bother? All I saw was some caucasian-style dancing. Maybe the kid should at least have a couple of Red Stripes before the game, because as we all know, Reggae & Red Stripe have been helping white folk dance for 70 years!

Seriously, though, Champ may as well have NOT been at the volleyball match Saturday night. He/she added NOTHING to the atmosphere. It is painfully obvious to me that we need to make this "position" a lot more valuable (read: $$$$$) if we want to attract someone who will actually give us a reason to watch.

I hate to say it, but that mascot looks like a kitten. How tall is that person? 5'2"? Is it a woman?

Since we are so deep in some areas of our FB team, maybe we should do what the grizzlies do and put our best athlete in costume.

I always liked and still do the mascot costume they had when I was going to school(87-92). That was a cool costume. At least it looked like a Bobcat.

I wasn't too impressed when I first saw it. It looks too much like a leopard. However, after looking at pictures of actual bobcats, I can see how it works. I do think the ears need changed to look more bobcatish. I'm just glad the new uniform smells better than the old one.

BTW, at least of of the people that is Champ is a girl.

Along the same lines as the way champ looks....

The logo isn't really a good representation of a bobcat. I do like the logo, but it looks more like a cougar or jaguar to me. Also have you seen what it looks like when they tried to add a body to it. Some of the large soda cups have it on it, as well as one poster I've seen. It's just horrible in that application.
