I guess I am like everyone else and am sorry to see Jason leave. He very likely would have been remembered as a great TE in MSU history. However, I still feel a bit more disappointed than many others seem. Maybe I am getting too old, but it still bothers me how there is very little sense of loyalty any more in many of today's athletes. There does not seem to be any sense of loyalty in this case to Jason's teammates and coaches, as well as the school that offered him a scholarship and chance at a great education for free. Assuming there is no "problem" with the coaches or other players, it just always seems there is only an attitude of "me first and only me". Not just in this case, but overall.
Oh well, I do wish Jason luck. And the Bobcats will be just fine.

I agree somewhat, but Jason did express his dream to play at the PAC 10 level as a TE coming out of high school, but no one offered him. So now he has his chance and its during a year he wasn't expected to play so it give the Bobcats at least a little bit of time to plan for replacing him. I wish him the best. He has seemed very up front and honest about everthing since he came in. Who knows, maybe this injury gave him a lot of time to think about things and his dream to play at UW has finally come true.HelenaCat wrote:I guess I am like everyone else and am sorry to see Jason leave. Good Luck Jason, and if it doesn't work out after a year ... come back to the BOBCATS!

I would agree with Hellcat as well. Unfortunately, the no loyalty has now become the norm, instead of the exception. Those of you who have watched The Line, are aware of the extensive interviewing they did with Jason. This is what upsets me. He really seemed to be a team player through and through. To hear this news was a shock to me, because of the sense of leadership he posed during those interviews. Hindsight being 20/20, he should have said something at the beginning of the summer, so that Kramer and Crew could have gotten on the rebound a little faster. That seems to be a indicator that maybe things weren't so swell with everything, and he is a great bull&*!!!.

The fact that Kramer gave him his release so fast leqds me to think everything was ok with the coaching staff. Other first line players that wanted to transfer met with a little more resistance from Kramer like Jamie Amicarella.
I have heard that Jason's mother was really hoping he would decide to stay at Montana State because she is a avid Bobcat, but she realized that Jason really had a dream to play big college football. The only thing he needs to do is start working out!

I guess I never heard that his dream was to play at Husky stadium. The one quote I sae was that hewanted to play football at the highest level. Obviously that's pro, and like I stated earlier, IMO his best chance at going pro would have been to stay with the Bobcats. Anyway, the OC point that ws brought up was a good one. The tight-ends under our current offensive game plan are blockers.CARDIAC_CATS wrote:I agree somewhat, but Jason did express his dream to play at the PAC 10 level as a TE coming out of high school, but no one offered him. I have to respectfully disagree. If one has the talent to get to the NFL, the best way to prove that is to play at the highest level of college football. The guys who make it to the NFL from I-AA are exceptions to the rule, as most scouts/fans naturally assume that if a guy was NFL caliber, he wouldn't have ended up at a I-AA school.I guess I never heard that his dream was to play at Husky stadium. The only true exception I can think of are situations where a guy is stuck in a I-A program behind an even better pro prospect or has some issues with the coaches/system that aren't allowing him to show what he can do on the field.
If going pro is the ultimate goal, first proving that you can stand out in the Pac 10 is a great way to get there.

Jag: I was amazed by the size (and number at that size) of the UW TE's. I used to think 260 was a pretty good size for a TE, but now I'm not so sure. Although, I imagine that the TE is one position that really varies depending on use. You can have the Shannon Sharpe (228 lbs.) type (WR lined up as a tight end, virtually guaranteeing Pro Bowl stats year after year) or you can have a guy who is essentially just another OL guy who might get a one yard pass every six weeks out of the play action on the goal line. The body types would generally vary quite a bit depending on where along that spectrum a guy lies.
Maybe having Jason entrenched in the UW program, he can put the bug in the ear of some of the guys who might be wedged behind a superstar in the depth chart that MSU is a good place to play. We could use another Joey anytime one comes along.
