Weber State recruits player at SLCC.....
P.J. Owsley 6'7 215 So Boseman, MT/Montana State Transfer... P.J. Owsley came off the bench to add 10 points when they played Weber State last year in Ogden. Montana State didn't want him to transfer, however, he did, and could become a Wildcat....has great hands, and an upside, has good moves and doesn't quit...Long and lean, moves real well, and get up and down the floor with ease...ave 24...ppg in High School, walked-on at Montana State, given a scholarship for 2004-2005 but decided to transfer.

I might be wrong, but he didn't average 24 a game in high school? I thought that awesome Bozeman team 2 years ago didn't have anyone higher than like 15-16 a game? That team was truly loaded/deep/ and played really good team ball?
That really sucks we lost him though as I think he is still going to grow some more and had really long arms and was a good defender. He could be a darn nice player in 1-2 years for them.

WTF!?!?!?
You guys have no right to judge PJ from hearsay. In my opinion the discussion of whether you "heard" he had a drug problem is completely off the topic, and is bulls-it for you to discuss and spread rumors. PJ is a great kid, who just was sick of the "Bozeman Bubble" closing in on him. You wonder why he left? Look at the crap that gets spread around about him, even in harmless posts/ message boards like this? Stay out of the kids life and focus on "BOBCAT ATHLETICS" And you wonder why he left...
If God made me a griz fan...I'd shoot myself...

You make some great points and I hope we will all pay attention to them. That said,
though, for what ever reason P.J. left, cause will most likely will not go away by
transferring to another school, he will still be under the bubble, as you put it. Every D-1
school has its fans and I would imagine a board just like this one. As some one who
really needs to get a life , myself, I have browsed around quite a few of these boards and
The Bobcatnation.com is one of the better board in being fair and respectful to coaches,
players and/or fans. I think it is unfair to come down on this board as part of the reason
PJ left. This board has had nothing but positive thing to say about PJ from the time he
was a highschool player, who no D-1 schools wanted, to last year when he was a big part
of the Bobcat team. P.J. left under some what a cloud of mystery. Durham was very
complimentary in the press about PJ and welcomed him back if he chose. We were told
it was not grades, but personal matters. Chat boards are about rumors, and opinions, hell
90% of what I post is rumor (the other 10% is bad humor). You have the right to rip
someone a new one for posting something you feel is wrong and/ or defamatory, but in
the PJ Owsley case I hardly think you can condemn this board for picking on PJ or
driving him away.
Thanks

I will not name my source but it was a fellow bobcat bball player. By the way if any of you think using pot is rare in bobcat athletics or college athletics in general you are badly mistaken. I don't like it and think at montana state we should be a little above the norm in terms of morals and such but it seems not. There are solid kids out there who you would never guess do it but they do. Not trying to spread rumors or anything but just letting some of the less imformed in (greatlakescat) on some things.

It isn't exactly "immoral" to smoke pot -- it's just illegal... and it shouldn't be. It's a lot less harmful to the body, and leads to a lot less dangerous behavior than booze, yet few people seem to be against booze.
I don't doubt that pot is smoked by some athletes -- the same as regular students. The difference is that it is much easier to stay in shape and sharp athletically while occasionally recreationally smoking pot than it is while drinking.
