Tommy has been absolutely elite this year. I just dont know how you can say he hasnt. Sure, I could have missed one or two. But the poorly thrown balls I have watched either in person, on TV, or on the replays have been due to pressure. Its honestly odd to me how much Tommy is flying under the radar. The kid is the best he's ever been. Think about that! Thats absolutely nuts. The dude is locked in and its truly special to watch. I do not know if the Cats will go 12-0. I dont know if they will win the Natty. But, watching Mellot be elite in 2024 is something I wont ever forget.
Looking forward to the retirements of the numbers 4...and 15...
I prefer a ring of honor. Those two players are obviously all-time greats, but there are leaders of national championship teams who haven’t had their numbers retired. I’ll throw in Lulay as well since the program was down for all but a few years until he started taking snaps. McGhee too. The Buchanan winners should be retired as well, and then you start losing numbers without even getting to a Cody Kirk or a few other RBs. That doesn’t even touch a few of the great OL the team has had in the last decade.
Ring of Honor or Wall of Honor is the way to go. I don't know why MSU hasn't already done it. The special players and teams that we are witnessing right now is pretty amazing and I don't believe most people realize how historic this era is.

Tommy is winner. Period. End of subject. He may not dazzle the statisticians with his numbers, but in the end, the only number that counts is the one in the Win column. And Tommy is excellent at the number.

Even with the INT and a lower completion percentage, Tommy still has a commanding lead in the BSC efficiency category at 185.3. Hastings is second at 159.6.

His rating yesterday (164.02) was better than Hastings season rating.

MSU - 16 team National Champions (most recent 2024); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

I don't think any number should be retired. I think it honors the player wearing the number as well as the player being remembered.

Of course a lot of our athletes such as you mentioned “are or will be” in the Hall of Fame and will appear in the HOF room in Brick Breeden Fieldhouse. Athletes from all sports are recognized there with a wall plaque. But I recognize that many people do not take the time to walk through the HOF room or since it is still used for meetings daily so people can not even access it to view it. And I do think MSU could improve this display and consolidate some of the trophies and pictures that hang about in different areas like skiing, track and field, etc. Also, I do not think the room has the right amount of “dignity or prominence” that it should have to memorialize these great athletes…..it could be greatly improved! But perhaps you think there should be a separate display just for Football such as in the BAC……..even at that there is a wall inside the BAC on the west side that has a recognition board for “all-American football players”. You have to walk past the entrance and down past the nutrition station to view the wall…..perhaps there are changes that could be made because again if you are from out of town you may have never walked in to see the wall and perhaps you have other thoughts how that should be made more publicly visible.

Guess my point is that there are walls of recognition or rooms in a couple places already established but I do think there are opportunities to improve,

There is a desire in the athletic department for a proper Bobcat Hall of Fame. There once was a proposal to build a HoF room inside the Worthington Arena area. I believe the new HoF proposal was even in the old facilities plan somewhere. When the Bobcats had that M to M walkway proposal in the facilities plan, I thought that should be called the Hall of Fame walkway and have plaques for all the inductees put in a wall along the path. Since the indoor was moved, I’m guessing that walk way is no longer in the plans. Anyway, for football, they could have a wall inside the stadium or plaza area, where it could be seen, that has all the football hall of famers names inscribed. I’d even donate money to the cause. The area with the names of the football All America players in the BAC is definitely not accessible to most of the fans.

The walkway is still on the latest plan I saw. There was a presentation on all the facilities during Reunion Sessions during graduation in May, 2024 and promenade was still there. I even asked if it was still being considered and it was. Priority is likely low….or certainly has to wait until Katy expansion plan and construction are somewhat finalized. I like the idea of including the HOF into the promenade as you suggested.

And just to understand. There is a HOF room in the Worthington Arena already…. I assume you mean to build a new “improved” HOF room there….or proper as you describe it.

The HoF is technically in the Brick not Worthington arena. I know, Worthington is in the Brick but parts of the Brick are not in Worthington. The plan I saw put the HoF in a new room in the actual Worthington arena area of the Brick and would take up part of the back curve on the current track. That would work since the track team could train in the new indoor facility. That plan was many years ago, so I have my doubts that is still the plan.

I've actually donated all sorts of historic Bobcat items for this new HoF. I hope to see them displayed someday.

Here is what is in the current facilities plan. "The current Ogle Hall of Fame will be expanded and become a major focal point of the facility, showcasing Bobcat history and pride in the new venue and throughout Brick Breeden."

Edit: Found it. See the new room on the left side of image.
