Mercers offense was the worst one that played yesterday, maybe in the entire playoffs. So they made NDSUs defense look good. But if you watch the ACU game or the season final vs USD the Bison defense is definitely a step back from SDSU or MSU. They don’t have great speed. If NDSU wins I think they would be a much better matchup than the Jacks in Frisco for the Cats. The Jacks, other than Wilde, don’t have a ton of offensive threats to challenge that weakness on the Bison. Hence the close game last time.Common Cat wrote: ↑Sun Dec 15, 2024 10:28 amI didn’t get to see much of the SDSU game yesterday as I was taking care of work around the house. I did watch a fair amount of the NDSU game and came away feeling we are similar to them.Prodigal Cat wrote: ↑Sun Dec 15, 2024 10:25 amSDSU is the best defense, MSU is the best offense. South Dakota hasn't played outdoors since their overtime loss to South Dakota State on October 26. Does that matter? I don't know, but it's interesting. I wish their game at PSU wasn't cancelled. That is a real missing data point.

The plus (+) or (-) matters here. I’m taking this to mean that the Cats are -6.5 and SDSU is -2.5. I haven’t checked any of the betting sites, so you’ve been warned…Prodigal Cat wrote: ↑Sun Dec 15, 2024 10:08 amSDSU is favored? Wow. I mean I think they win but it’s in Fargo and the Bison won the first game.

I know in the NFL it can sometimes amount to a minimal advantage, but does anyone know if the extra day of rest may also help our team?

It appears to me that the four teams remaining are pretty equal. The two main things favoring us next Saturday are playing outside and in Bobcat Stadium. Though really, the "outside" factor is minimal given the mild forecast. Outside of the comback by UCD against us, and New Mexico, we really haven't played a close game to the end. This game against SD could be a four quarter game. I sure hope not. I hate close games. It's tough on the mind and body.

Vermillion is listed as being at 1234'. Do we think that gives us any advantage? It's not a sea level to the mountains type of advantage, but Vermillion is a lot lower than I expectedaucat wrote: ↑Sun Dec 15, 2024 12:46 pmIt appears to me that the four teams remaining are pretty equal. What makes you say that? Bozeman is 3000 feet higher in elevation. I'm not, nor ever have been, a D1 athlete but I came to Bozeman from 1500 feet and the altitude kicked my butt the first several months I was here.CodyCat wrote: ↑Sun Dec 15, 2024 2:34 pmElevation won’t be a factor at all.blueandgoldblitz wrote: ↑Sun Dec 15, 2024 1:21 pmVermillion is listed as being at 1234'. Wasn't it playoffs when Sam Houston came to Bozeman and the majority on this board were predicting a Bobcat blowout because of the snow and cold, and they totally kicked our butts? Elevation and weather have not historically favored one side over the other except when the Cats played SDSU on the ice skating rink and SDSU clearly had better cleats. That argument should forever be laid to rest. Just sayin'

I'm gonna predict... 8.5.CodyCat wrote: ↑Sat Dec 14, 2024 8:01 pmCats will be at least 10 point favorites.Monymony wrote: ↑Sat Dec 14, 2024 7:35 pmCats host USD and NDSU hosts SDSU
Both should be excellent games and the cats should be around 3-7 point favorites and NDSU should be slight favorites. USD is going to test how good this cats team is and this game will tell us if we will come home from Frisco happy or if things will be interesting. SDSU looks much improved and NDSU doesn’t look spectacular.
Personally I expect Bobcat Stadium and Tommy to be too much for USD and I believe SDSU will topple NDSU. Going to be fun
Great time to be a BOBCAT!

Just checked Sports Bet MT and it opened with Cats as 10.5 point favorites so good call to the posters that said at least 10! The other game is SDSU by 2.5.catatac wrote: ↑Sun Dec 15, 2024 4:19 pmI'm gonna predict... 8.5.CodyCat wrote: ↑Sat Dec 14, 2024 8:01 pmCats will be at least 10 point favorites.Monymony wrote: ↑Sat Dec 14, 2024 7:35 pmCats host USD and NDSU hosts SDSU
