I'm excited...

Post by FA_Q_M » Thu Jan 09, 2025 4:06 pm

It's been a LONG last 5 days. The chaos of getting to Frisco, the build up to the game, actually getting into the stadium, watching our Cats play a good game(but ultimately, their worst of the season), the gut wrench of defeat, and the chaos of getting back to Montana....you get it.

For me, the dust has settled. I'm absolutely excited about where this program is going in the next 5-6 years. Obviously, losing on Monday stings, but to me the silver lining there is we played our worst game of the season against a powerhouse, dynastic team and STILL had opportunities to win. Playing deep into these last 4-5 seasons has given our team more practice time, more reps, and the experience of big boy playoff football. For the guys that stick around, the value of these experiences will be invaluable. Making deep playoff runs will be the standard and expectation. That's exciting.

To me, this team reloads. I can't wait to book my tickets for Nashville

It’s gonna take me a while longer to get over this one, ha.

But yes, a ton to look forward to.

I fully expect the Cats to be big sky champs again next season, and one of the top seeds heading into the playoffs…. And that is with average qb play.

If we get lucky and have a QB come out right away playing at an all big sky level, then right there again in the championship discussion.

These last 4 years recruiting classes have been insane. The facilities and support continue to improve. The Cats are not going anywhere.

Vigen turned McKay into a 151.5 passer rating (2nd best in BSC) quarterback in just a short period of time. I’m sure MSU will have someone adequate by the start of next year. I’m more sure of that than I was of Mellott making it through the year uninjured.

I think MSU ‘could’ve’ made it to the semis or title in 2021. The defense played very well the first three games.

MSU - 16 team National Champions (most recent 2024); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

To me, the focus shouldn't be replacing Tommy; he's irreplaceable. The focus should be, again, beefing up our offensive and defensive line. It's no secret this is how NDSU and SDSU are winning year in and year out.

We had one of our best o-lines ever at MSU and still seemed we're just a click below NDSUs lines. I sincerely hope the focus is putting a good well-rounded QB behind a BIG and physical offensive line. On the other side, same deal. Hope we're focused on having big, Strong DTs with big and fast ends who can secure the edge.

I'd also to see us move to a more balanced offensive attack.

I agree and that’s what I’m saying about replacing Mellott in a roundabout way. I think MSU’s lines are beefed up but that’s something that you can never let up on.

MSU just needs to learn how to beat ndsu. You learn to win and you learn to lose (ask Mike Tyson). They learned how to beef up their lines and be more physical.
