This also highlights the utter brokenness of college football. This should point blank never be possible. Move up or down, sure. Hopscotching between competitors every year without consequence though will turn college football dirtier than the pros.PapaG wrote: ↑Mon Dec 22, 2025 6:00 pmTom has professional reasons for this post. Too bad the Bobcats didn’t beat them 110-0, and their players’ reactions to Taco being on the ground is as classless as it gets, and is a direct reflection on the program that Bobby runs.
I’m sure they are already on the phones trying to poach a roster of other Big Sky team’s stars for next year, too.

During MSU’s current 11-game winning streak it has only trailed in the second half twice. Both times to UM.
MSU has only trailed for:
8:52 at NAU first half
7:00 vs UC Davis first half (15:52)
6:12 at UM first half of 1.0 (22:04)
5:01 at UM second half of 1.0 (27:05)
6:40 vs UM second half of 2.0 (33:45)
Total - 33:45 trailing; 11:41 second half

The griz were a good team this year….. but I still think they were overrated.
100% should have lost to North Dakota. Struggled with cal poly. Eastern had to fumble a spike attempt in order for the griz to win…..
They were a very good team, with a handful of Elite players…. But not a top 3 team.

The schedule matters! As long as UM gets 8 home games including the likes of Central Washington, Sacred Heart, et al... they will have a good chance to win enough games to get a seed and play at home. Are they good? Yeah. Great no. In my opinion...consistently Overrated. Their schedule has made them look better than they really have been and when they hit the road, they hit the wall!

SFA vs Griz would be an entertaining game. Yale could give them fits as well. Bobby does have his teams playing their best in Nov/Dec. This one’s ours for the taking. Thank you ISU.GoldstoneCat wrote: ↑Mon Dec 22, 2025 7:10 pmI thought all year they were average. I think now they're better than that. Third best by seed and that's probably accurate. But there's a substantial gap between us and them. We are stronger, just as fast and athletic, and significantly deeper than them. We are better coached. And we're going to dunk a natty on their head.

Maybe not top 3 but definitely top 5...and it has less to do with the Griz than it does the FCS. Sadly, the FCS is a shell of what it was even 10 years ago...go back 20 and it's even more pathetic now...the top 2 or 3 teams are elite no matter the era, but the depth of the FCS is embarrassing.mslacatfan wrote: ↑Tue Dec 23, 2025 8:46 amThe griz were a good team this year….. but I still think they were overrated.

I will save my "Tip o' the cap" to those that earn it, not by attempting to justify it by piling on meaningless stats. Every athlete in NCAA football is expected to give that effort - that is the lowest bar. It's very clear - a coach who yells "F*** you!!!" at the refs and states "Well some guy got smoked" and "You know my feeling on the targeting call" in his post game presser is showing zero class, humility, empathy and leadership. That lack of spine breeds exactly what the results show in the only meaningful stat and in the conduct deemed acceptable in his players.

I got tired of watching the Griz defenders tackle a Bobcat and get up still holding the Bobcats leg and give it another twist before letting go. Or not getting off the pile and not letting the Bobcat up without a twist or an extra shove. I get it that emotions are high, but I see it as being a dirty player. FTG.

I actually thought there was far less of that in 2.0 than 1.0. Not as confident to get away with it on the road?...St George wrote: ↑Tue Dec 23, 2025 11:01 amI got tired of watching the Griz defenders tackle a Bobcat and get up still holding the Bobcats leg and give it another twist before letting go. Do you mean 3rd down? The Cats didn’t go for it on 4th down at all last weekendTomCat88 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 23, 2025 7:50 amThe Griz main issue is in the trenches. I’m amazed that um was as good as they were this year vs us. I didn’t think they would be 11-1. I was expecting 9-3 8-4.
I thought we’d beat them by a 42-21 score in Missoula.
I agree that us, ndsu and sdsu are the three best teams in the fcs. Agreed with that after Gold Rush. And that if um can continue to get to the semis and finals then next three years they belong in the conversation.
I thought um was gonna fold down 17-7, 31-21 and 20-3 but they kept playing their way back into each game.
I agree that the super brawl was a lot like the 2010 game vs ndsu.
ISU also scored on consecutive drives vs MSU and the Bobcats responded by shutting them out the rest of the way. I also need to credit MSU’s offense after those lapses.
The drive after falling behind was one of the best of the season and has been overlooked. MSU converted on three fourth downs and ate up about 7 minutes on 14 plays. Lamson to Dowler was the play of the game but that drive was huge and really displayed what MSU is all about.

This is not a controversial position. Obviously, UM was a top FCS team.
It’s classic Hauck. Some elite talent. Explosive potential. Unsuited to a fight in the trenches.
I expect the same story next year.
I give UM props … they have the second best program in Montana.

This isn’t meant as a slam on Ah Yat because he had a great season. More of a compliment to the MSU defense. Ah Yat threw as many touchdowns to MSU as he did UM this year.
