I don't recall who asked the question, but everyone should watch Coach Vigen's last answer from the post-game press conference when he was asked about his decision to stay with MSU. He was choosing his words very carefully but there's some great stuff there.

Thank you Colter and Skyline, Bobcat and Griz fans alike are incredibly lucky to have this level of media coverage.
That last question was garbage. I think had it been worded properly and asked at a different moment in time it would be a great question. Vigen wins the first Natty in 41 years and gets asks a question about loyalty to the program. Jeez.
You're taking it the wrong way. It was Parker Cotton at the BDC who has covered the team for at least a couple years, not sure how many, and obviously knows Vigen well enough to have a good idea of how he would answer. I assume he was teeing him up for the answer he gave. He knows how much loyalty and respect Vigen has for MSU, Bozeman and Bobcat Nation. It wasn't a gotcha question, it was an opportunity to say that in this day and age sticking with something to the end rather than chasing the next shiny object can pay off like this.

I'd be interested in @Colter_Nuanez 's interpretation of the question as well as the answer, especially the "wow" at the beginning.

I agree with your take on this. Vigen was set up to give a strong plug about factors beyond money (i.e. family happiness) being additional factors in sticking around and the success that can come though that loyalty.

My sense was Vigen’s gut reaction was annoyance with the question and then quickly transitioned his thinking and made it a positive moment to end on.

Colter it seems you had 5 or 6 there, MTN stations had 2 or 3, SWX I think had 6, and then there were 4 or 5 MT newspapers. I think I only heard about 2 Illinois media members ask questions. It did seem like there were a few Regional/National orgs. Is that accurate?
We had myself, Samuel Akem, Brooks Nuanez, Tom Stuber, Andrew Houghton in the press conference. We also had Jason Bacaj, Blake Hempstead, Dawson Ahrenstorff and Brandon Sullivan doing photography along with Mike Rider, Ty Gregorak providing analysis.

MTN had a ton there - Scott Breen, Slim Kimmell, Tom Wylie, Luke Shelton and I think another.

SWX had Ben Wineman, Shaun Rainey, Alaina Margot, Tommy Mellott, Bradley Warren (at least) there.

406 Sports had Victor Flores & Ben Alan Smith.

The Chronicle had Braden Shaw and Parker Gabriel there. Not sure about photographer.

There was a record-setting 60 media members in the press box. I had to fight and use two different organizations to secure all my credentials. Proud to have a big crew there.

Thank you for all the kind words. I've dedicated my life to this. It was very gratifying to see you all down in Nashville. Congrats from the bottom of our hearts on winning it all!

The end of season press conference, I assume there will be one later this week or next Monday, probably would have been the better venue for the question but he also probably wanted to get it in just in case there wasn't another chance and figured it was a good way to close out the season. I liked that it happened to be the last question (possibly pre-arranged with the NCAA moderator?).

Vigen’s response was: wow. I thought it was Parker Cotton? Then Vigen goes on to give a thoughtful, intelligent answer. Sometimes I think people don’t even deserve Vigen.

I liked how Taco shut down the name question from the local guy.
I know man, I thought that was pretty bad*** and funny 😂
We got some great human beings on this team! I'm so proud of them
Dude....Taco just made one of the biggest plays in the history of sport in Montana....and the first question he gets is from some know nothing who wants to write a cute story about his name? I wanted to grab the mic out of that dude's hands and tell him to get lost
I like how Taco followed up your question with, “yeah that’s a great question.”

There have been a lot of very polite guys on the team this year. They don't treat media as an obligation.
