Re: Oline coach
Maybe after this performance we’ll lose a few less of them to the portal next week.
Some people are a lot like slinkies....... Not really good for much, but it puts a smile on your face to watch them fall down a set of stairs.

Re: Oline coach
They need to work on a true silent count this off season where guard just signals to the center when ready for when the line is having trouble hearing the QB clapping or whatever the issue is. It’s been inexcusable all playoffs.

Re: Oline coach
Yeah not changing the cadence to, well, literally anything other than the clap, was not great. The false starts as a whole were concerning but that many against a center in one game? Oof. Seems like there’s something other teams have been seeing on tape. Since the Yale game, defensive lines have been barking at the o line (and even got called on it during SFA (if I’m remembering the games right).

Re: Oline coach
False starts have been an issue all year, especially in the red zone and seemed to become more frequent in the later half of the season. I’m 100% certain the coaches tried to correct this and I’m sure in practice it was a non-issue, but coaches can only do so much, and the false starts almost seemed to become a mental issue. Tonight I have no doubt that it was more mental than anything. Without trying to make excuses for our boys in blue, there were a few called that, at least on the tv, didn’t seem like a false start. I’m sure when you start getting called for ‘phantom’ false starts that really starts to mess with you.

IL state was 100% simulating the snap count. That wasn't the only thing that crew sucked at, but it was a big one.

This. Announcers were acting like it was all due to ISU noise. These boys played in Missoula, there’s nothing ISU could be doing that would match that.

Re: Oline coach
I haven't watched the game on TV yet, but it seemed that ISU picked up on our previous tendency to false start and orchestrated simultaneous shifting of the d-line. The shifts were very quick and in unison which often resulted in the Cats jumping. Good coaching.by ISU.

I said the exact same thing to my wife at the game! There’s no way we do those things 9 times. That is statistically inconsistent with the whole season of work.

Re: Oline coach
Several times we jumped when they weren't making ANY noise. They would get loud after the call but it definitely wasn't the crowd making them jump.kcatz wrote: ↑Tue Jan 06, 2026 11:30 pmI was there ISU was not that loudCalgaryCat wrote: ↑Mon Jan 05, 2026 11:35 pmThis. Re: Oline coach
I think this is true for these reasons. Players said SFA was doing it all game, but only called twice. SFA was most likely doing it all season and didn't just dream it up for the game with the Cats. SFA is in the Southland Conference. Officiating crew for the Championship was from the Southland Conference. Appears delay of game for disconcerting signals isn't called in the Southland Conference. ISU was able to pick up on and use it to their advantage.
Can't make up my mind as to which is better - 55-21 or 48-14, but 34-11 will do, but 48-23 may be the best of all.

Re: Oline coach
Its funny. The people that i talked to that were there said it wasnt that loud. Brock "the closet griz fan" Osweiller was making it out to be they were super loud, bit never giving credit to the Cat crowd. The TV was amplifying the Redbird noise making it sound pretry loud watching it on TV.kcatz wrote: ↑Tue Jan 06, 2026 11:30 pmI was there ISU was not that loudCalgaryCat wrote: ↑Mon Jan 05, 2026 11:35 pmThis. Brock is a solid announcer but he’s generally never going to say the refs made a mistake unless it’s very obvious. I think that’s more of what this was than him being a closet Griz fan.lutecat wrote: ↑Wed Jan 07, 2026 12:38 pmIts funny. The people that i talked to that were there said it wasnt that loud. Re: Oline coach
Just a couple comments. I sat towards the top on the Bobcat 50 yard line. It was pretty loud but there were times when the crowd got quiet as we were on defense so much and I think the fans got tired of yelling at certain points. To Illinois State, for their small crowd, got fairly loud, and I think helped with the background of the Sky boxes behind them to project the noise towards the field.BelligerentBobcat wrote: ↑Wed Jan 07, 2026 12:52 pmBrock is a solid announcer but he’s generally never going to say the refs made a mistake unless it’s very obvious. In regards to Cat Griz 2.0 the players I talked to said it was much louder on our field than anything they’ve ever experienced in Missoula.
