No source but I'm assuming Tayden Gray is getting offers too. If he does leave, we are in great hands with Bryant Meredith or JJ Dolan. Meredith was great in the Natty as was Gray. Luke Oxarart also impressed on the scout team at nickel as a true freshman. Nickel will be in a good spot regardless.

Nickel and safety seems like it’s in a really good place. Corner might need some portal attention.

Gray certainly had his big plays, and I could be wrong, but he just always seemed to be there. Definitely made his tackles when he needed to, but no mater what he was always in the vicinity of the play, just has great instincts.

Meredith was such a huge get last off season, he definitely plays with a chip on his shoulder.

The story that I heard is that Scottre wanted to come back last year because his offers that led him to enter his name into the portal didn't materialize, but that Vigen wouldn't have him back because he wasn't upfront with the coaches about his intentions.

IF all of that is true, my personal opinion (which is worth precisely nothing) is that a one year exile to Albuquerque is punishment enough and that if he wants to come back and ball out, we should let him.

I'm open to the idea that Breslin or one of the other backs could fill Davis' role in the backfield, but I don't think any of us know how likely that is.

If the coaches see that RB 1A spot as a need, Humphrey coming back would fill it in an amazing way.

Is he still that elite? He didn't seem to me to be the same aggressive back when he returned from injury. And, he didn't play much after transferring. I aslo support Vigen's stance.

A backfield of Jones, Breslin, Coon behind a OLine of Zimmer, Rollins, Mastel, Fleischman, and Thornton should be plenty good enough to keep up the tradition of "running the damn ball". If Scottre does want to come back, I wouldn't be turning him down at all and he would be a welcome addition, but we definitely don't "need" him.

I think he’s better than McMillan.

I actually tried to rank the four corners weekly and that ranking changed every week because all four of them made big plays but had some tough games interchangeably. Seth Johnson was the most physical in the run game and had the honor of covering #2 in the title game. Carson was the best in short/intermediate coverage and still decent against the run. Jhase could run with anyone so he got the speed burners on the outside. Jhase was also solid in run support. Carr probably has the best ball skills and feel for that part of the game. I don't know...I'm not a secondary whiz by any means so if @BobcatBuiltTexan wants to throw down a ranking of these four or just discuss them one last time, that would be great. It was an Incredibly fun group to watch and all four helped us win the title in 2025.

So what positions of need do we go after in the Transfer Portal? Seems awfully quiet on that front as far as recruiting goes.
