the cats really put on a show last night for the 3000+ in attendence. it looks like we will be putting up a lot of points this year. i think it is a good sign that we went over the century mark. i am very excited about the upcoming season. i just wish that there was more excitement about this team than years past. we can hopefully leard te league in attendence once again.

Actually Weber led in attendance, not MSU. MSU was second with a home average of 3644 to Weber's 4984. If indeed there were 3000+ there last night for a mid-week exhibition game I would say that is pretty good turnout using last year's average as a comparison. Same as with football, get the team back to a winning program and the fan's will come back.

Like I posted last night-I think we might see a bit of a fan resurgence this season. Al Beye and Nick Dissly are 2 guys that people are really going to want to watch.
In the past few years our teams have been a little on the bland side-even the NIT team from a couple of years ago. From what I saw last night, this team is very different.
Frank Brown is lightning fast and pushes the ball up fast, Beye runs the floor better than any 6'11" center I've ever seen, and we all know what Dissly can do.
We'll have a lot more dunks this year anyway. Hopefully these new players will translate into a few more wins too.
Re: last night's crowd: There's was a pretty good number of students there for an exhibition game.

Speaking of Kenny Plummer, how about Big Al's silky smooth free throw shot!
All I can say at this point is that it's been quite a few years since I've been that entertained by a totally meaningless exhibition BB game. If you're fun to watch and you win games, the fans will show up. They've got one of the two already, we'll have to wait and see about the other.

I think Beye could be Kenny Plummer times 10! Okay...Plummer times 5. Plummer developed a nice following in his career with the Bobcats, he was unique with his big afro, and he really played to the crowd. I thinke Beye brings a lot of those same attributes (except the fro), and I think he's going to take it to another level.suckitgriz wrote:Erickson was pretty exciting and so was Kenny Plummer let's not foget.
Jason Erickson was one of my all time favorite Bobcat basketball players. Anybody who knew anything about basketball could appreciate how good he was. But I don't think he had the charisma I thinking of when talking about Beye's potential.
Big Al will probably not average double figures, but he will probably get us a couple of big dunks every game, swat a shot or two in the 5th row, and completely alter the opponent's game plan in a very recognizable way when he is in. Our crowd is going to cheer every dunk, cringe at everyone foul, wonder if he's going to break in half against those bigger guys, and laugh out loud many time as he completely screws up another guy's shot or misses a big block or whatever. Plus if the account of him in the Chronicle is true-he's already one of the most popular guys in town!
