Is this kid a senior? If so why wasn't he signed early as a senior - in November?ballzdeep wrote:mthoops- I grew up in Montana near Miles City and know about high school basketball. A few messages ago you list some of the BEST high school basketball players in the state ever. WHY do you think Jack is the best? Because the next thing you are going to say is that he is better than Wayne Estes. Who else is going to be good around the state?
GTAPP- How do YOU know what his doctor has told him? It seems everyone knows all this personal info..... I'm just interested how you come about this info!

I never said he was better than any of them. Just that he was in a class with them. Let's not get carried away with this. He's simply a very good player. That's all I am saying.ballzdeep wrote:mthoops- I grew up in Montana near Miles City and know about high school basketball. Durham has signed all of his scholarships in the fall before and would most likely do it again. Durham gets a little picky during the fall signing period and tends to focus on highschool recruiting. I have heard that he did offer a few players this fall , Owsley and Hasquet to name a few. Owsley is still on the table but, he will most likely not sign until the fall of 2005. I do not think the Hasquet offer is still on the table. Also Krysco did sign a solid highschool class this fall. He looked at the what he thought were the "best" athletes available at the positions he was looking at and took the bird in the hand approach, of cource the problem I have with what he did (and Durham can be guilty of this , too) is that he totally over looked Montana players. There used to be a policy that , Montgomery, Morrill, Taylor, Starner, Haroldson, and Durham used to talk about:mthoops wrote:Why does Durham have four scholarships left if you're supposed to sign everyone in November? "our program will always recruit the the top Montana athlete every year"
..and that policy went by the way side about 5 years ago, which is to, bad.

Check out egriz.com for this info on this topic. I am a Hellgate alum. MtHoops is fromballzdeep wrote:mslacat- If you say that mthoops is a reliable source than so be it, you must have your reasons. mthoops it doesn't take long to get caught up on topic at hand because I have read the past messages. So unless you are meeting at another website I am just as informed as you about whats going on in here.
Missoula, and we have exchanged some personal Messages.
At one time I thought MtHoops was actually McGillis himself, but I come to understand
who he is in an abstract way. I have not actually met him, but much of what he has
posted and told me personally has been substantiated by other sources completely
separate from MtHoops. Some as far away as Bozeman. Mthoops is bias towards
McGillis, but I do not think he has hidden that fact from anyone, and he is entitled to be.
I am somewhat bias because I have a natural bias toward Montana Players especially
those from Hellgate.

Remember I usually watch 2- Hellgate Games a year and I am bias. I saw Jack play 2ballzdeep wrote:mslacat- have you seen jack play and how would you rate him as a player b/c WE ALL know mthoops is full of it.
football games this fall and 3 Basketball games so far. Two of the football games were
early in the season and one late. Hellgate played much better later this season. Jack also
seemed much more aggressive later on in the season. Jack is decently athletic, but has a
great set of spring on him. At his best he very efficient and not flashy, but can score from
three point, draw fouls, slash down the key. His post up moves in college will need some
work, he drops the too, low and needs to keep the ball away from the little guy. like all
High school players he needs to get stronger. The last game I watch I was counting the
points , but he scored 34 points so quietly and from every where on the court. I think he
had 8-10 points from the line 9 points from 3-point land the rest on jams and short
jumpers. Again his shooting percentages was were all over 50% did not miss a free
throw. McGillis does benefit a great deal by having a Charlie Cox feeding him the ball
down low. McGillis has a nice mix of athleticism, scoring and efficiency. How is that!

I believe Jack is shooting 75-80% from the line for the season.BozoneCat wrote:I'd love to get anyone who could consistently make free throws!mslacat wrote:Logan Magnusson 6-6 small forward just won the Utah 3a title this week end. Bigger, maybe quicker, better jumper, a little more consistant from three point land, and a little more agressive as a scorer. Jeff is a better defender, better passer, more fundimentally sound.Helcat72 wrote:So MSlacat...How does he compare with Jeff Hays?ballzdeep wrote:bozocat- I have seen Jack play and after seeing him all that came to mine was Carroll College! mslacat- don't forget about buying bozecat dinner, I mean after all thats what boyfriends do for their girlfriends!

I think Carson Durr seems like a great kid and I pull for any kid from montana to do well and I think he could potentially be decent, but lets not get carried away with his ability. Although he is decently big, he is as tenative as a high schooler in a Hungarian brothel. I don't know how much attenttion 23%FG and 12%3FG attracts.

Here is a kid who has been matched up against Mcgillis the last two years and has come out better. Bobby Howard Great Falls High. Yes he's only a sophomore, but he rebounds better... and thats what the Cats need. As a sophomore i would put money on this.. "toughest player in the state". He's a coach's kid... every crowd is all over him... And he still puts out 17 pts and 10 rebs a game. As a sophomore. Durham might need to go see "Howie" about his kid before he turns Maroon and Silver.

If one of your posts was moved into the smack talk forum, it is only because it fit better with the State of Montana Basketball topic and I just moved everything that wasn't closely related to this topic there. I know it would have been better to split that stuff up as well, but it isn't worth my time. Don't be offended if you were moved there, it was just a simple cleanup and attempt to keep this thread on target.

This shows how little you know. All you look at is scoring........he is not a scorer at the #4 and when he does get an opportunity to shoot it might be 5 times max. His % is not good, but he does not even get into the flow to get his shot down. He is expected to make every shot? Again, if he had the same opportunities as Dissly and Durham. He is playing the #4 very undersized. He is playing there because the coaching staff is not going to have him share time with Dissly. I say move Dissly to the #2 and give Durr some tme at the #3....I'll bet his % would go up.ShotDR wrote:I think Carson Durr seems like a great kid and I pull for any kid from montana to do well and I think he could potentially be decent, but lets not get carried away with his ability.
