Is this a surprise or was he really not offered?
Has not been offered anything by UM or MSU. I'm perplexed to put it lightly. Has done nothing to drop himself down on my ranking. He's the best pure LB in the state. If I've missed something in the evaluation, would love to know what. Cats and Grizzlies have started LBers who are exactly his build at an All Conference level for decades. He's a great athlete. All-State as a freshman on defense for a college ready AA school. Better prospect coming out of high school than both O'Reilly brothers. Just as good as Nolan Askelson who was offered scholarships by both programs. It's ridiculous.
I don't know Vim, I'm starting to doubt you now.

The only thing I can think of is we already have Curnow and Souza who might play LB, as well as Ahrens from WA. Maybe they were just more locked in and we filled the quota. Still feels like we could have given Brady a PWO.
Maybe they did and we just don't know about it. Is there a chance it is an academic issue? Easier to get into naia than d1
I have a feeling it's harder to get into Tech than MSU.
Maybe engineering degrees but they have business, nursing, technical degrees. NAIA in general is lower requirements.

I’m by no means a talent scout or anything like that, but if I had to guess, I’d guess both UM & MSU think the kid is maxed out physically, and that just won’t play. Whether they’re right or wrong, we’ll see.

He wrote on his twitter/x account that he is academic all-state.

His dad played at MSU. His mom is the sister of Bobcat great Arie Grey and she was a stud athlete as well. He might have been the best AA football player in the state last year.

He has some pretty good genes. As a coach I wouldn’t be too worried about his athleticism. What tells you otherwise?

I’m confused too. What does “ maxed out physically” mean in non-athleticism terms? If someone is maxed out physically, it seems like that would mean they don’t have any more athletic potential to tap into.

I can understand that.

What I mean is that he’s likely not getting any taller and his frame is maxed out. I think he’s listed around 5’11-6’0 and 200, and again, this is just observation from a distance, it doesn’t look like he can get much bigger. Some players come out of HS a lot closer to their max potential than others, I think he’s one of those.

I just don't buy it because we've recruited these squatty body in-state LBers for years. McCade and Nolan both are built similar to Brady and have similar athleticism and both got scholarships. What gives?

I heard that he really likes big Saint Patricks day celebrations, Evel Knievel history, and Pasties, so he voiced his desire to the MSU/um coaches of his dream to live and go to school in Butte. That's why he wasn't offered. \:D/

Maybe at his size the only position he's suited for is LB...but his speed may be questionable. What is his 40 time?

He wrote on his twitter/x account that he is academic all-state.
Maybe he wants to be a petroleum engineer. It is a top paying engineering degree, and he has the academic skills to succeed or even excel. Oil is not going away, in fact it will be a booming industry once again in the near future. Sounds like a winning combination to me.

I’d like to see us offer Jaxon Leiberg from Helena high. Reminds me a bit of lance mccutcheon. Basketball player is great hops.
Agree. Like Lance, he’ll only get better.

I’m by no means a talent scout or anything like that, but if I had to guess, I’d guess both UM & MSU think the kid is maxed out physically, and that just won’t play. Whether they’re right or wrong, we’ll see.
His dad played at MSU. His mom is the sister of Bobcat great Arie Grey and she was a stud athlete as well. He might have been the best AA football player in the state last year.
Okay?
He has some pretty good genes. As a coach I wouldn’t be too worried about his athleticism. What tells you otherwise?
I never said anything about his athletoo.i just m.

Makes sense.
I just don't buy it because we've recruited these squatty body in-state LBers for years. McCade and Nolan both are built similar to Brady and have similar athleticism and both got scholarships. What gives?
My curiosity requires an answer here. Will report back if my digging procures any nuggets.
Nothing great but, "We had him on a game visit that's about it. He did not have an offer." Didn't get a chance to press for more.
