If MSU ends up 12-0, the committee is gonna have a choice to make.
Their choice will be two 2-loss MVFC teams before MSU. Not trying to be a downer, that's just my prediction.
2 loss? No. If the winner of the Marker loses a second game somewhere else a 12-0 Cats will be the #1 unquestionably. If the winner wins out to be 11-1 they will be the #1 and the Cats will be the #2.

They both already have losses, FBS losses but still. I agree 100% with your post, and it amazes me that people still think the committee could somehow put a 12-0 MSU team behind a 10-2 DSU team, when the Cats would have an FBS win and at least three likely top 10-15 wins on the resume. Not happening. I mean sure, they COULD do that but there would be lawsuits and stuff.

The wildcard here is USD. They are looking real frisky and could do some damage. They do have to go to Brookings in a few weeks and finish @UND and vs NDSU. Would love for the Bison to win at home next week but lose to USD in the final week so the Cats get the #1. They would still move one of the xDSU's to the 4 so I think no matter what the Cats will have to beat a rabbit or a weird cow to get to Frisco where they would face the other one.

SDSU plays both North Dakota schools on the road. That's rough. But they host USD.

NDSU, aside from the matchup with SDSU coming soon, has to go on the road to USD for the final game of the season. Kicks off exactly when the Brawl kicks off.

USD has to go on the road to UND and then host NDSU in back to back games to end the season. That's rough. Plus they are only playing an 11 game season thanks to PSU.

It's pretty easy to imagine this conference carving itself up a little bit before it's all over. I wouldn't place any bets on any of them going the rest of the way with one loss this year. I see more parity in the MV than in previous years.

If you ask me we want SDSU and NDSU to lose as many games as possible. That means against UND and USD. We want them to be as low of a seed as possible. I still think the cats are going to drop a game and it is really important to have at least a 2 seed for the playoffs. So hopefully either SDSU or NDSU can lose a couple games in the remainder of the season to give the cats a chance at a 2 seed with one loss.

I’m curious what you think will be the most likely game the cats lose. I see their most likely loss as against UCD. I just don’t see the cats losing at home.

The Cats are good more so than they are good at home. Same as UM. Teams that I consider good (better) at home are NAU, UNC and Idaho. Also ISU.

MSU - 16 team National Champions (most recent 2024); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

Whether we lose a game or not, we want NDSU to beat SDSU in the Marker. SDSU has a DII win and one less ranked win chance not playing Illinois State. Even if we're 11-1, the resume would be better than SDSU at 9-2 against DI teams.

We will have a much better answer to that question after this weekend’s game. That’s kind of a cop out, but if we get a solid win Saturday night I think there’s a good chance we finish undefeated. I think most would agree this is only the Cats second real challenge of the season but if we pass it with a good showing on both offense and defense I would bet on undefeated season.

Yup, this is where I'm at. We have such an enormous advantage at home that if we can't beat ID at home, I think beating UCD at their place will be extremely difficult.

Yep, good description. I 100% agree with the DSUs being #1 and #2 right now, zero questions about that. I also know that the powers that be probably want to do whatever they can to set up a showdown between NDSU and SDSU in Frisco. It is what it is. the ONLY way would lose my $&#* over all this is if the Cats win out and are not #1 or #2. I don't think there's any way that could ever happen but if they did put one of the above MSU with two losses..... again, I'd lose my ****. lol
Sorry man, but the “powers that be” comment doesn’t make much sense. Any “powers that be” would love to see a Montana school in the championship. Both MSU and UM draw well and the entire state’s population (long with respective alumni) is watching the game regardless of which team is in the chipper.

I don't think there's any way that could ever happen but if they did put one of the above MSU with two losses..... again, I'd lose my ****. lol

They could have done that in 2022 when MSU’s only loss was to Oregon State. Instead, they put a 2-loss NDSU ahead of MSU so the DSU’s would be on opposite sides of the bracket.

UM is the university equivalent of Axe Body Spray and essential oils.

NDSU lost 2 games in 2022 by a total of 5 points. 3 point loss to a PAC 12 team and a 2 point loss to SDSU. We lost 68-28 to a PAC 12 team. Lots of context. Not just about the records. As long as the championship has any combination of the 4 schools, the NCAA will be overjoyed.

Obviously one of the DSUs is gonna walk out of there head to head next weekend with a loss. Both of them still have to play South Dakota. In fact, SDSU will play USD next after this NDSU game. I think best case scenario for us is if the winner next weekend loses to USD and the loser beats USD. In theory that lines them up to be the 2 and 3 seed and on the opposite side of the bracket from us.

I don't think USD is good enough to beat either team.

This is what I expect from most voters.

NDSU has looked fairly pedestrian outside of the dome. If SIU Wasn’t so banged up and playing their 3rd string QB that might have been more of a game.
