Colter,
I posted this question on the video links thread as well. Was that an interview that you conducted with Alex? In regards to NIL?
Something Colter said about 20 minutes into this reminded me of Alex Singleton‘s comment in regards to the portal and NIL money and being from California. Does anybody remember where that interview with Alex is? And who posted it?
In that interview, he states(paraphrased, of course) that as a sophomore from California playing football at Montana state if he gets offered money, he is gone. But then turns around and says that that would probably not be the best answer in every situation as an adult looking back.
And Colter in regard to your comments around the 20 minute mark about Montana versus out-of-state recruitment. I have this thought. We need to win the in-state recruiting battle, as you have stated in other commentary, because people in state follow in state players and have family connections with our smaller communities. I also think The subject you discussed about out of state players becoming Montana‘s is true. People gradually warm up to the character, not just the competitiveness of an out-of-state recruit. I think that is part of our nature in Montana to be apprehensive about developing bonds, but once we do that loyalty runs pretty deep.
I think the downfall of the portal, more common than not, is the temporary nature of a player coming to your university. Bigger colleges are used to that because they already do not have those bonds forged in communities to the extent that we do in our smaller, tighter, Net, community of Montana and surrounding areas of the Dakota‘s Wyoming and Idaho.
Thanks for your work as a Missourian to be as unbiased as you have been and posting good content

I really enjoyed this with Rider, especially when he talked about being at the player reunion and seeing guys he used to play with, coach, etc. He made a really good point that every one of those players contributed to the win by committing to building the program into what it is today. I couldn't help but think how good it was that the portal didn't exist back then, as relationships among players were built over years of playing together, fighting the same battle, winning together, losing together, not one year and gone. And I also liked how he talked about how many of the former players are just enjoying being fans now. That's really cool!
