Re: Random stuff 2026
Is YSU still considering trying to get out of the contract? That was a rumor a couple months ago. Probably too late at this point but would be funny. I think there was a team they were considering that had a open spot in week 1 but beyond that it's not looking good. Even one game October is going to be tough to fill at this point.
Showing pressure on fourth down in overtime. They bring pressure. Lamson throws...Endzone! Caught! TOUCHDOWN!!! Taco Dowler!
And a kick away from a championship.
Here we go. Miles Sansted. Snap, hold, kick, Up, GOOOOD!! FOR A NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP!!

Heck, there is always Lincoln, they wouldn’t have to travel far.coloradocat wrote: ↑Fri Jan 16, 2026 3:23 pmIs YSU still considering trying to get out of the contract? Looks like Sac has really dug a whole for themselves.

Sorry Rams fans, but have to root for the Bears tonight to guarantee there will be a former Bobcat in the Super Bowl.

There isn't one. If the Bears had won tonight it would have been them (Daniel Hardy) vs Seattle (Ty Okada) in the NFC Championship game guaranteeing a former Bobcat in the Super Bowl on the NFC side. There can still be two if the Seahawks and Broncos both win next weekend!

Presley is still unsigned at this point or at least hasn't announced publicly where he's going.

Based on his brief but concerning history he may have to take an offer he will not love just to get on a team. Which means another transfer in a year.

What if they can’t even get to 11 games? I would have thought they’d have more than one FBS matchup scheduled, and at this point it feels like their FBS options are pretty limited much like FCS. Maybe they could squeeze a D-II school in?

Re: Random stuff 2026
The FCS moved to a permanent 12 game season starting this year, so SAC still needs six more games. The problem is, schools sometimes schedule their non-conference games years in advance. That Oregon game for MSU this past season was scheduled way back in 2020, five years before it was played. SAC is in big trouble scheduling games, not only for this season but for the foreseeable future as well. SAC isn't in a conference anymore, so they don't have 8 or 9 definite games already scheduled, they need to find 12. They also need to find teams willing to play them in the months of October and November when those schools are mostly playing conference opponents at that time. Playing DII schools doesn't help them get into the playoffs, especially if they play more than one. I'm just amazed how badly they screwed themselves over leaving the Big Sky before having a plan on how to proceed. The Butcher wrote: ↑Mon Jan 19, 2026 10:33 amWhat if they can’t even get to 11 games? SAC may very well become the new Lincoln University, vagabonds playing mostly away games against bigger and better opponents. Recruiting is going to be tough for them in the future if they don't get an FBS invite.

If the Ivy League has taught us anything, it's that you don't need to play 12 games to make the playoffs. If Sac can get 8 games scheduled against D1 teams and run the table they will lobby hard for a playoff spot. Ideally those lobbying efforts will go as well as the others they have tried in the past 2 years.AFCAT wrote: ↑Mon Jan 19, 2026 10:47 amThe FCS moved to a permanent 12 game season starting this year, so SAC still needs six more games. Re: Random stuff 2026
It is one of the most short-sighted moves I've ever seen from a Division I university. I fully admit that their non-football move to the Big West is honestly probably better for the rest of their athletic department, but their football team leaving a power 2 conference to go FCS Independent in the year of our lord 2026 is absolutely insane. There's only 1 FCS conference within 1000 miles of them, and one non-scholarship school playing in a coast-to-coast piecemeal conference (whose closest conference mate is in Iowa).AFCAT wrote: ↑Mon Jan 19, 2026 10:47 amThe FCS moved to a permanent 12 game season starting this year, so SAC still needs six more games. Sac State's admin were the only people in the country who thought that joke of an athletic department could jump from fricking FCS to the Pac-12, and they screwed over their most profitable sport in the name of an actual pipe dream. I don't see a world where the Big Sky ever lets them back in for anything after they talked down on FCS. Absolute morons

Re: Random stuff 2026
The Ivy league is a conference with an auto bid and was a bit lucky to get an additional at large bid for the playoffs this past season. Sac State is now an FCS independent and will have to rely on only an at large bid to make the playoffs. If they can even schedule 8 games this season and beat all 8, I bet it is still find it hard for them to make the playoffs and it will hurt them a lot in recruiting. They have made a huge mess for themselves. I think even Sac State fans recognize that.coloradocat wrote: ↑Mon Jan 19, 2026 11:01 amIf the Ivy League has taught us anything, it's that you don't need to play 12 games to make the playoffs.
