The difference is that last year at least one senior captain (this year's captains) stood up in front of the team and said make your choice. Stay and be brothers or hit the road (and it wasn't that nice from the report I heard).

Apparently there isn't much leadership (team leaders) holding everyone accountable right now.

I just wish ONE TIME some one who is not transferring would retweet one of the guys who just became an ex-teammate and instead of saying "go be great" or whatever the hell they say, instead say "I thought this meant something. I thought we were brothers and teammates. Good riddance, don't ever contact me again."

I would agree with this 100%. The new leaders on Montana State need to decide right now who they are. And said an example for everybody to follow for the 2025 team.

Personally I would hate to see the players start reacting as immaturely to these transfer announcements as some fans do. Would you post something like this on social media if one of your co-workers decided to take a new job? Didn't think so.

Hah! ….and it will never be enough. I give and give and give and buy and buy and buy their stuff, but it never is enough. Heck, I don’t even want to add up how much I spent on Bobcat football tickets, NIL, infrastructure donations, food for the team donations, QBC, travel for the team after the season donations, team gear purchases, etc., this past year. Not to mention personal costs for hotels, travel, food, etc. I spent around $5K for Frisco alone.

Okay, enough whining and venting. Oh well, okay, where do I send the check? Go Cats!

Yep, I actually fear that it could potentially start going the other way. Donors may soon come to realize that we will never be able to compete with P4 schools in terms of NIL money, or even G5 schools for that matter. We can give and give, but with all of that and we still can't keep guys here, people may start getting donor fatigue.

Not trying to be an ass here, but what’s the point of giving more when it’ll never match what the big schools can give? We can’t compete. Why continue to give more if we’ll never be able to match the big guys. I get giving because these guys deserve it but I’m sure most of us cannot keep giving and giving just to see guys continue to walk out the door.

I'm sure we'd have no chance with a guy like Conner Moore who will likely get 6 figures somewhere. Would be interesting to know what guys like Scottre and Rohan are offered.

Some day this will all be regulated, the fact that it wasn't before the NCAA said here you go isn't surprising at all. The NCAA needs a CBA, Player's Union, salary cap (yes, it will be salaries instead of NIL sooner than later), contracts, a tampering investigation unit, and restrictions on the number of portal entries allowed. Jaden Rashada and Malachi Nelson are perfect examples.

No, but I've also never publicly referred to my co-workers as "brothers" or "sisters", went through daily workouts, games, injuries, the highs and lows of a sports season, etc. A job is different. I get your point. Calling that out publicly would be pretty bad, as two wrongs don't make a right, but I agree that the current/new leaders need to call this crap out. For the ones that have a known place to go, that's one thing, for the others to up and quit the team is just poor. Tommy and Cam Miller both made reference to it in their interviews. Obviously Tommy is gone now, but someone else needs to step up and take the lead, and encourage commitment.

I had similar thoughts....collectives at the FCS level may only be useful in luring a prized high school recruit...for a year or two...the player(s) on roster you are hoping to retain with "significant" NIL money are the same ones being targeted by FBS programs who can clearly outspend.

Scotty and Connor came to MSU out of high school. Had incredible years and just had too much $ and opportunity to pass up. Rohan isn’t in the same boat.

Agreed, but there's a much better way for the new team leaders to make a statement and encourage commitment than to individually call out or respond to their ex-teammates with language like what Colter posted. That just sounds petty and wouldn't do much to encourage any potential incoming transfers to join the program.

Reed is younger than I thought he was. This makes a lot of sense.

On the other end of the spectrum, Sain would be in his 8th year of college if he chooses to return next year. Redshirt in 2018, then JC year (doesn't count), Covid (doesn't count), played in 2021 and 2022, medical redshirt in 2023, played in 2024.

Having 3 degrees, all paid for is a plus

So he goes the full eight years or graduates the first semester. I guess they would be required to carry so many credits/units each semester. Man, that is A LOT of schooling. If for no other reason, my hat is off to them...

To summarize...Monday night:
Rohan--didn't play bad but did have 3 drops.
Scottre--didn't play bad but did he break a single tackle?
Connor--by accounts on here he struggled Monday--admittedly I don't watch the oline play.

By Wednesday afternoon all 3 are in the portal. Not at all saying they didn't try their best Monday or that they didn't want to win that game, but...distractions are distractions.

The problem is the timing of all of this that is allowed. NOBODY should be allowed to enter the portal until all college games are completed. Some sort of effort to limit the tampering while these guys are still playing would be nice.

I wish the transfers would just not say anything. I wish the coaches would make the announcement and the teammates should be asked by the coaches to not comment on it.

Other than Rohan Jones, none of these is at all surprising to me-- but we are now actually kind of thin at RB, especially if Davis doesn't come back.

Adam Jones is obviously legit and I *love* Coon, but he's certainly a step down from Scottre. Latin-Henley showed promise in year one, but that's it and we now have 3 RBs leaving (4 if Davis doesn't come back).

Given how much we run, I think we'll be a very attractive destination for a Power 4 RB who feels underutilized by their current school

That doesn't happen because when your brother has a chance to do better for themselves even if that means leaving you behind you are happy for them. Family doesn't act like that....
