I never said he did. He went to UNM because he was in the portal and it was the best be could do. No way to prove it so the point is moot but I can't imagine he entered the portal 2 weeks ago with visions of Albuquerque dancing in his head. That's all I'm saying. Re: Bobcat Portal News Only
I will summarize the first round of the Portal this way (round 2 is in the Spring):
We lost 5 players that are really good (IMO):
Moore
Jones
Humphrey
Powdrell
Polidore
Of those only 3 were a surprise (IMO):
Jones
Powdrell
Polidore
3 will be hard to replace (IMO):
Moore
Jones
Polidore
And only one could have a big impact (IMO):
Polidore
I say Polidore only because of the loss of Ortt also. Our safety play in 2024 was very good and to lose both especially with how good they played and how much experience they had I don't know of anyone on the team that is at their level.

Probably a little of both if that’s possible. We will never know, there must of been strings attached at some of the bigger schools he visited, or did his, as shown by Tom several times, play against more difficult teams/playoff performance when ‘healthy’ to play have an effect?GoldstoneCat wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2025 6:39 amI never said he did. He’s a hell of a back, however ultimately I think there were/are a number of backs at the FCS level who would have had similar numbers as him with our offense this last year, and when his number was called against teams that actually were competent in tackling he struggled to break those tackles, Jones did too, however, as the season continued Jones was becoming much more physical. I’m sure he got better perks at UNM then MSU and he’s hoping to showcase these his skills to make an eventual move again, gasp could one of our very own be becoming a ‘mercenary’ we’ll have to wait and see.
I talk out my ass a lot on here with some logic/personal opinion and I don’t know how to say this without creating another debate or argument on certain players playing abilities and the portal, however, if there is one position that a players excels at, but the portal has not been very kind to (with a whopping sample size of 2) for the Cats and probably most other FCS teams, would be running back. Aside from Skattebo, who even with great high school film was passed up initially by FBS teams, just shows how much of a priority running backs are at the FBS level.

On a gameday, the talent at running back really does matter. It’s important.
But in terms of team building, they’re easier to find than most positions and relatively plentiful.
That’s my two cents.

Thank you for the classy post cataholic. That is what I expected from Bobcat fans - not the hate and vitriol I see from others on here. Bozeman is some sort of paradise to you clowns and Albuquerque is a dump? You are definitely fitting into some of the worst stereotypes from the series you hate so much (Yellowstone). Congratulations. For your information, we have one of the largest G5 NIL funds in the country, but it mostly goes to basketball so I seriously doubt that is what brought him here.Cataholic wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2025 9:42 pmScottre has been classy his whole career at MSU. How about we just wish him the best.
And he will be doing fine at UNM. They are in decent shape, especially for a G5 team:
https://www.abqjournal.com/sports/unms- ... 01bc5.html
We did not make him enter the portal, so why blame us? He was going to go somewhere and I am glad that he chose such a filthy, crime-ridden, ugly place like Albuquerque. Some of you people need to look in the mirror sometime. For the fans that joined our site during our game in October, did we make fun of you and call you names - even after your team barely won due to our mistakes? No - quite the opposite in fact. All of you were treated absurdly well.
I would prefer to remember Bobcat fans that way, but perhaps this is the real you.

I'd say take everything in here right now with a grain of salt. The we lost one of our best players so of course there will be jilted lovers on here, but not all of us have a problem with ABQ. I in fact wish you all well and a good season next year and i hope Humphrey tears up the field for you guys, which I'm sure we will. The Big Bad Wolf wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2025 8:13 amThank you for the classy post cataholic. This article is from last summer, but a lot has changed since then. The football head coach and much of last season's staff are gone, and during the first four days of the portal opening, the New Mexico Lobos led the nation with 35 scholarship players entering. Describing their situation as 'decent shape' now seems highly inaccurate.Cataholic wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2025 9:42 pmScottre has been classy his whole career at MSU. Eck is a good coach, and more importantly a good recruiter. I think Bronco probably got some momentum rolling with fan support, while they might not go 12-0 this year, I do think they likely end up with a winning record and a bowl game. With the upcoming changes to the PACX and the Mountain West, they could very well be competing toward the top of the new look MWC in a few years. The Butcher wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2025 8:42 amThis article is from last summer, but a lot has changed since then. BBW, pretty sure it's the same 5 people who don't like Albuquerque. I've never been and have only seen it on Breaking Bad. Sure it makes you look about as good as Yellowstone does us. Hope Scottre balls out for you since we aren't playing you again. Eck will definitely make things interesting for you if nothing else.

I would not be surprised if Scottre has an all conference year at UNM and hops right back into the portal to a P4 program.
I hope he finds the success he’s looking for. I will miss him, but I like the looks of our RB room going into the spring anyway.

Here’s the story so stop reading if you don’t like stories. When I was younger and we used to go to boxing tournaments in Canada quite often. Usually my father and our boxing coaches drove us in a bus to wherever we were going. We pulled into a small town in Saskatchewan when I was about 12 years old and I made a comment about the town being dumpy. My boxing coach got up from the front seat walked back and slapped me right across my face and proceeded to put his finger on my nose and told me you never put down where somebody is from.technoCat wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2025 9:55 amSamesies.nanacat wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2025 9:24 am"Like"LTown Cat wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2025 9:23 amI thought the exact same! For the fans that joined our site during our game in October, did we make fun of you and call you names - even after your team barely won due to our mistakes? No - quite the opposite in fact. All of you were treated absurdly well.
I would prefer to remember Bobcat fans that way, but perhaps this is the real you.
My father was driving the bus and I still remember him looking up in the big rearview mirror and disappointment at me. If I don’t care for a town I realize that enough people must care for it and that’s why they are there.
My home is in Bozeman even though I travel a lot for work. I chose Bozeman because I fell in love with it way back when I was in high school and used to travel for school functions. My wife, who is also from my original hometown, was also already there. It’s changed a lot and I understand why.
I would leave Bozeman today with what our property at home is worth but my wife is pretty deeply rooted here. So chances of leaving our slim even though it is bursting at the seams and changing every day.
Got to listen to a conversation between two very large developers from out of state who were at Simkins lumber just yesterday. it was their opinion that Bozeman is currently over built because blight is setting in in certain areas due to an imbalance in the number of rentals, second homes, and those that live here permanently. doesn’t take a keen eye to look around and see things like graffiti multiplying. As an example.
Off my soapbox on that subject.
In regards to the New Mexico game both teams made big mistakes including Tommy‘s two fumbles that led to scoop and scores.
New Mexico had to huge drops that could’ve sealed the game for them. They also had two missed field goals probably due to wind. But our defense kept them out of the end zone.
Montana State is a good team because they have the right attitude to finding a way to win. New Mexico probably has better athletes but has not learned how to win yet.
The biggest improvement over the last decade with Montana State football is the expectation to win. Even the fans expect to win when things are going right early in the game. That change is huge.
I rambled and didn’t proofread. Thanks for those of you that indulged me.
I am excited for next year Bobcat football. We will be a top four team again

Typical early season mistakes by both teams that could’ve changed the outcome but a couple unbelievable drops by Lobo receivers especially late in the game were hugeLTown Cat wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2025 9:23 amI thought the exact same! And he will be doing fine at UNM. They are in decent shape, especially for a G5 team:

Thank you for posting BBW. I will miss Scottre as a Bobcat, but I hope he does well for you guys. I’ve never been to Albuquerque nor have I watched Breaking Bad, so I cannot judge it based on anything, rightly or wrongly. The Big Bad Wolf wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2025 8:13 amThank you for the classy post cataholic. You have been a gracious poster in your time here, so thank you. I don’t necessarily agree or disagree with your assessment that UNM’s mistakes cost them the game more than MSU’s mistakes nearly cost them the game. UNM didn’t move the ball very well against the Bobcat D, so 14 free points from two fumbles certainly helped keep UNM in the game. Conversely, those things happen in a game and UNM missed a couple field goals and had a couple drops late which would have helped seal the game.
Long and the short is that my opinion counts for jack all, but I believe the Cats were the better team and was able to overcome their mistakes, with some help from UNM. This is an anonymous message board so you really get the full spectrum of viewpoints and opinions. Thanks again for posting and I will be sure to watch UNM games next year and cheer for Brian Urlacher’s old team.

Re: Bobcat Portal News Only
I definitely appreciate the posts from BBW and I agree with him. UNM was our best win last year and we were damn lucky to get it. I also think that cat fans are developing an attitude that I hate. I really don't want to see the MSU become what we all hate about our rival over the hill. If I were Scottrie and I had the chance to move up to a G5 program on the rise and live in NM I would absolutely do it and I'm a born and raised rural Montanan.profisme wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2025 12:32 pmThank you for posting BBW. As the primary offender, I'll simmer down.
I both hate the transfer portal and I like to joke around, but I don't need to create any angst.
What would help me immensely is if someone would announce they're transferring TO Montana State University. That would be just so, so nice.
