Bobcat athletics is a business to the coaches, school leadership, and players. It's time the fans treat Bobcat athletics as a business too.

For a dude that didn't like MSU, he sure is looking at a lot of guys with MSU connections!

Hire the best recruiters first because the coordinators typically are busier during the season gameplanning for next week and not flying all over the country.BelligerentBobcat wrote: ↑Sat Dec 09, 2023 10:23 amI’ll never understand hiring position coaches before an OC/DC, but a ton of HC’s do it.

What negative things has Choate said about Bozeman/MSU? I missed all of that if/when it happened.

Good news.
Choate hired a strength coach and it isn’t Herrin.
Choate also hired Joey Thomas to be his DB coach. Good for Joey.

Re: Choate to Nevada
Your statement is inaccurate. Jeff Choate absolutely loved his players and most all of the loyal Montana State Bobcat football fans, and that feeling was mutual. He had issues with certain people within the MSU administration. He also liked the people within the MSU football program as he hired some and worked with others in previous employment, so I do not fault him for pursuing some of those people. The Butcher wrote: ↑Fri Dec 15, 2023 8:38 amFor a dude that didn't like MSU, he sure is looking at a lot of guys with MSU connections!![]()

Good for Joey. Pete K and Choate brought him to Texas last year as an analyst. Sounds like a good fit. I have to think Joey will be recruiting the Seattle area heavily.BelligerentBobcat wrote: ↑Fri Dec 15, 2023 10:20 amGood news.

You are mis-reading what he wrote there. He is questioning the narrative that Choate didn't like MSU because Choate went ahead and hired a lot of people with MSU connections to Nevada.Bobcatsinmso wrote: ↑Fri Dec 15, 2023 12:37 pmYour statement is inaccurate. He’s going to coach receivers and QB’s? That’s…weird. They already have a RB coach. Will the OC be TE’s or OL? Very interesting choices he’s making.

I just might have to figure out how to get up to Reno next Fall. Things are about to get better up there.HelenaCat95 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 15, 2023 10:43 amBelligerentBobcat wrote: ↑Fri Dec 15, 2023 10:20 amGood news.

Re: Choate to Nevada
Very unusual, although with Choate's love of all things running game he may like an OC that is directly controlling the line.BelligerentBobcat wrote: ↑Mon Dec 18, 2023 3:06 pmHe’s going to coach receivers and QB’s? I could’ve sworn I remember him saying he likes his OC to also be the QB coach, and that was why he moved Matt Miller to QB coach despite never coaching QB’s before.CatsNoMatterWhat wrote: ↑Mon Dec 18, 2023 4:09 pmVery unusual, although with Choate's love of all things running game he may like an OC that is directly controlling the line.BelligerentBobcat wrote: ↑Mon Dec 18, 2023 3:06 pmHe’s going to coach receivers and QB’s? Re: Choate to Nevada
All make sense now? Matt Lubick who was the first choice (turned it down to stay at Nebraska) for the Bobcat job when Jeff left. Vigen was the 3rd choice. Matt and Jeff go way back. All the way back to Dillon Montana in the early 90's. Matt is undergoing a stem cell transplant currently in Denver. He will join the team late winter, early spring. Jeff is assembling a 1st class coaching staff.
